Finding cheap accomodation in central Barcelona in late summer can be extremely challenging, and it was a pleasant surpise to find this hostel located just off the northern end of Las Ramblas, and walkable to the main Shopping arcade, El Cortes Ingles as well as to the Eixample DIstrict, and Gaudi's Casa Mila. It is a basic no-frills hotel, so as long as you don't come expecting to be pampered for the price you pay, you will be alright.
The hostel / hotel is located across a couple of buildings, with rooms on different floors. We had the air-conditioned room with an en-suite bathroom, but the unit was rather noisy with the vibrations but nothing that a folded paper couldn't resolve. The lifts were slow tiny, which was a novel experience, which I later realized is quite standard across the city, but if you come over with massive suitcases, the multiple trips to the 4th floor can be a nuisance.
Thomas Lorenzo was quite chatty & informative, however my only disappointment was that we were charged for a full-night as a result of missing our flight that evening. It wasn't as though the hotel was totally booked out that it would have caused a loss of revenue. The other factor to consider if you have late arrivals, is that the reception which was in an alternative building on the 4th floor is shut after 10.30pm or so, so get in touch with Thomas prior to booking a midnight arrival.
