“Good clean spacious rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

We needed a hotel in this area of Barcelona and there are few alternatives. However the Aristol was exactly what we needed. Good clean, spacious rooms with adequate heating and excellent bathroom panelled in marble. The room had two single beds pushed together which were firm but comfortable. There was a desk, minibar and a couple of chairs. The windows looked out over a busy junction but the traffic noise was not excessive. The free wifi worked fine and there is a PC with internet connection in the reception for use by customers. Breakfast was the usual buffet and was basic but adequate. The staff appeared to be attentive and polite. Would definately stay here again.

“Comfortable with Good Price”

Small hotel right across the street from the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Hospital de Sant Pau". Very comfortable rooms with good A/C. Didn't really hear any ambulances. There aren't many english channels on the TV, but when you are in Barcelona, TV doesn't really matter. Service was very courteous. Didn't try the breakfast so no comment on that. The hotel is located up the hill from the direction of the sea, so the best metro to get off (if you are not taking a taxi) is also the closest- Guinardo/Hospital de Sant Pau, which happens to be the yellow line. The best walk from the hotel is this- turn right when you walk out of the door, heading downhill on Carrer de Cartagena. Take it until you get to the pedestrian boulevard Avinguda de Gaudi (small cars and motorcycles run on the sides). It runs diagonal to the other streets and begins right across the street from the main entrance to the historical part of Hospital de Sant Pau. You will be able to see a great view of the Sagrada Familia from here and the walkway continues all the way to the church. The street is lined with restaurants and cafes and is a very pleasant walk. FYI, a good grocery store is located right across the street from the hospital on Sant Antoni Maria Claret called Bon Preu. You can get tasty crossaints and sandwiches for good prices there to take to the beach!

“A clean, safe hotel in a good location for a few days in Barcelona.”

This is a clean, safe hotel. Our room was spacious with windows and a view. Our bathroom was also spacious with 'his and hers' washbasins. The room had a functioning safe which we used with our own combination and air conditioning that went on and off with the room entry card. The reception staff were helpful and we took breakfast in the light and airy dining room. This was good value, continental style with a few extras.
The hotel is a short walk from the Sagrada Familia church where you can pick up the Tourist Bus. The nearest Metro stop is Guinardo on the yellow line which is just a short walk from the hotel past the new hospital. The yellow line goes to Passeig de Gracia metro which is conveniet for shopping and Plaza de Catalunia. Another stop is Jaume 1 convenient for The Born.

Hotel Aristol is a 3-star hotel located closed to the Unesco Heitage, Hospital de la Santa Creu I de Sant Pau. There are 2 metro station close by, the yellow line is slightly closer and you won’t need to climb up, convenient after a long hard day of walking. It wasn’t centrally located but nevertheless, easily accessed via metro. Towards the night the streets weren’t busy and one could hardly hear any traffic.

The hotel is crisp and clean, with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was sufficiently comfortable to accommodate two people without invading into each other’s space. It also has air conditioner with temperature controller. Lighting was sufficient. A safe and a fridge were available. High speed internet worked very well, accessible from the room without problem. Downside is no drinking glass or in-room tea/coffee facility. Nevertheless, one night requested spoons to be sent to the room and the staff happily brought it up.

The room was nicely furnished like a 3-star hotel expected. Bathroom was big, with a bathtub and a good-size counter and a huge mirror. The water pressure wasn’t very strong but water temperature was constant. Towel wasn’t replaced everyday, which did not bother us.

The breakfast consisted of two types of hams, cheese, eggs, cereals, breads, fruits, and yogurt, slightly too expensive for what it is.

Overall, the stay at Hotel Aristol was pleasant, for the price we paid (60 Euro/night without breakfast), it was a deal. Would certainly recommend it to others who do not mind to stay a bit away from the busy old town in Barcelona.

“good clean hotel”

We booked this for city break we were two couples. I read reviews and sounded mainly ok for the price it did state it had four floors. We landed at Girona caught the Barcelona bus outside straight to centre, then caught taxi to hotel. So when we entered hotel small lobby ,but clean, very helpfull. But I was suprised when we were told to go up in lift to fourth floor and walk the last flight of stairs which was a small flight. At the top of them were two doors right and left ,we had one each. Now I was worried had we been put in two small loft type bedrooms. Wow opened the door big bedroom probably one of the biggest I stayed in beautifully furnished an clean. The bathroom had big corner bath with shower over marble floor again lovely. By then my husband had found balcony doors which went round the side of the hotel and the view was amazing. Our friends had the same so between us there was not much you could not see. Breakfast was basic but enough, the cobs were fresh but it is just a cold buffet. When we left the hotel to go out we did look up at he hotel and could see no more balconies so they could be the only ones. If you went straight across and down the side of the hospital there is a metro and there metros take you anywhere ine the city and run every four minutes.
