Okay, being located in the off-piste business area around Barcelona airport (even my cab driver had to ask for directions), Tryp Barcelona Aeropuerto is not where you are likely to be spending the couple of weeks with the family. On arriving in the late afternoon, it looked dark and abandoned from the outside. However, once inside, you will find that it is quite bright and spacious.
The staff speaks English quite adeptly, and service was both courteous and swift. While the restaurant was closed, they served good food in the bar - both tapas and small dinnery dishes.
The room was very nice and bright. Don't bother asking for a room with a view, however, unless industrial sights are what you crave. As others have pointed out as well, the bath tub is of the simple and shabby sort. A bit odd, really, as the rest of the the room appeared quite appealing.
Internet is, as it should be, free of charge, but they route traffic via their hub in Madrid, so it is quite slow. Expect 1Mbit/200kbit async.
Anyway - it is a transit hotel to the airport, and for that, it is excellent! They offer free shuttle service to BCN every 20 minutes (it seems), at least in the morning.
Enjoy your stay!
