We were helped by the many previous reviews and our experience confimrs them. While our room did not match the photos on the webite it was big enough for us all with adequate cooking facilities and a decent bathroom. It was close to the metro and from there we were able to catch the bus to the airport.

There are some great cafes close by as well as a small supermarket and grocers close at hand.

When travelling with teenagers it is important to specify the beds needed. We were often greeted with a foldaway double for ours. The staff at Bertran helpfully found a mattress and bedding..

We are budget travellers and stayed in budget hotels. If that is your gig then this hotel is right for you.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to check in without problems even if we arrived after midnight, hours later than we were supposed to. The apartment was pretty large, giving us enough space to relax after days spent walking all over the city. There are dishes in the kitchen and towels are changed daily. There are two metro stations nearby, for the L3 and L7.

Stayed here for 4 nights in the middle of September and would highly recommend it to anyone not wanting 5* facilities (or price). OK, it was very difficult to find the hotel in the first place but, after that, we found the metro station which was just 5 minutes away at Ave. Tibidabo made it a great location for popping into and out of the city centre. The tram and furnicular up to the top of Tibidabo and access to the hop on/off tourist bus were also only 5 minutes walk away so the out of town location was actually quite a bonus.

The apartment was spacious and very clean and, although we initially had one at the front of the hotel, we were moved to one at the back after we complained about the traffic noise and a malfunctioning toilet. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful - even when we complained after our first night. We didn't really use the kitchen apart from making cups of coffee in the morning but it seemed fairly well equipped - despite the lack of a kettle (we used a pan to heat up the water for our coffee). Having a fridge was also useful for storing the cold drinks that we bought at the nearby supermarket. We also had a balcony with a table and chairs but, as we'd come to see the city, we never actually made use of it nor the swimming pool. We never managed to get the TV to show anything other than Spainsh programmes despite the instructions in the room to change to International ones and it would have been nice to catch a bit of BBC news now and again. Overall, we enjoyed staying there and it was nice in the evening to leave the bustle of the city centre and make our 10 minute trip 'home'. The price, at 65 euros per night, was surpringingly good.

The apartment was great - three bedrooms (two single one with extra bed and a large en-suite double) it is in a quiet residential area with very few tourists which for me was a bonus! The bus, tram and metro are all within easy walking distance and connect you to the centre of Barcelona within 10 -15 minutes. The lounge was air conditioned but the bedrooms weren't so in August it was hot and there were no fans.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the pool which was probably about 14 foot square. Great for splashing around with kids but not for anyone that wants to seriously swim - two strokes and and you are at the end! That said, it was on the roof, quiet and my seven year old son and I had a great time in it!

Lots of supermarkets around which open till late and lots of eating places to suit all budgets- I recommend eating Pizza round the corner which were fanatastic and good value for money.. unlike the steak!
