We stayed at the Amrey Sant Pau for two nights. Our room was on the ground floor and wheelchair-accessible. This meant that the shower did not have a rim, so the water flowed all over the bathroom. Also, there was a window right where the shower was. Since we were on the ground floor I could see cars and people passing by my window - I felt like they could see me showering too, so that didn't feel to comfortable.

Also, the hotel isn't very close to the centre. Yes, there is a metro about a five-minute walk away, but I still wouldn't recommend this hotel for a short trip. We of course knew where the hotel was located when we booked it, but we felt like we lost too much time "commuting". A nice sight is the hospital Sant Pau right in front of the hotel - they were remodeling during our stay but it still looked nice.

The room was nice and clean, though. The only thing bothering me a little (besides the shower), was that it was a little dark. There was only little illumination, but since we didn't spend much time in the hotel it was okay for us.

The people at the reception were friendly and helpful.

We stayed at this hotel in July of 2011 for a conference at the nearby University St Pau. We were a little worried at first by the two star rating but the hotel was excellent for the price. I don't know if I have had better value anywhere else. Get a room with a balcony as the view is great and have breakfast included with your room. A great area where we felt safe, day or night and lots of small cafes to eat or have a drink. There are many shops and places to eat within walking distance and cabs are inexpensive in Barcelona (at least compared to Newfoundland). We would stay there again.

I had some relatives come to visit Barcelona for a couple of days. I know the city pretty well so booked this hotel based on the fact that I was comfortable with the metro (which is 10 minute walk away) and its location close to the Sagrada Familia.
The area is relatively quiet compared to other parts of Barcelona.
The hotel is an excellent 2 star, verging on 3 star. It´s clean and comfortable and the restaurant prices are fairly decent (good coffee too).
The staff are great! Really helpful, friendly and honest. (I say honest because my husband unknowingly left his mobile phone in the restaurant and upon our return to the hotel the reception staff thankfully returned it.)
I would absolutely recommend this hotel if your looking for somewhere clean and affordable and don´t mind walking or catching the metro to get around Barcelona.

Not the best location but it is situated close to the metro. About a 10 minute uphill walk. From there you can take a straight train to Paseig de Gracia. Not a lot around the hotel so it was quiet. The room was a little small but clean and basic. I found the reception staff to be friendly and helpful.
