I had originally planned on staying here 2 nights with a no cancellation fee but left after the first night and ate the money because this place was THAT BAD. After being greeted by a kid with attitude we walked to our room through the hotel which felt like the set of a bad horror movie. Yes, the location is good but you'll hear the entire city from your room ALL night. I, personally would rather sleep at night but that's just me. Speaking of sleep, how does one sleep on a bed that is wearing a diaper (yes a flimsy plastic cover) with a sheet over it? I don't.
Did I mention that there's no internet either?
As if all of this wasn't bad, we endured a loud buzzing noise coming from the ceiling all night and then had to deal with a VERY RUDE man behind the counter in the morning on the way out. That is not what I want to deal with on vacation. Do you?

We recently stayed at this hotel and liked it very much. It was a great location to walk right out and explore Barcelona. The room was very nice and comfortable and we even had our own balcony. The staff was helpful and the hotel was pleasant and quiet. The only thing we didn't like was that the breakfast was not included and was very expensive and not worth the money. Plus they never said anything about the cost of the breakfast when we checked in and there was no written information about breakfast anywhere except for times. We were a little disappointed about this but we learned we always need to ask about breakfast being included or not and if not how much it costs

Arrived at approx 23:00. First impressions were not good, definitely not a four star - receptionist unwelcoming (we did have voucher though) no bar service or anyone in lobby. View from room was looking at walls of other rooms which meant very dark room even during the sunny days (was good for sleeping late!)

Weird smell of sea water everywhere.

To be honest we were not expecting much as we had read other reviews but went with it anyway purely for location. Located 5 minutes walk from La Rambla and Playa de Cataluyna.

If looking for great location, a place just to rest your head and relatively cheap then this is the place - if looking for nice hotel with good services stay away.

We arrived into Barcelona after 3p.m. without any hotel reservation. We made our way to the Tourist information centre in Placa de Catalunya and requested accommodation in a four star hotel for the one night. They booked us into the Gran Hotel Barcino. You pay a small fee to the tourist office for the reservation process and we then paid €75 to the hotel for the room. I agree with many of the other reviews that there are pros and cons to the hotel. It strikes me as a place that had its heyday a couple of decades ago. For me, on the plus side the location was excellent, a few minutes walk to the Ramblas but away from the bustle. The room was spacious, the bed and the shower were excellent and an older man at the reception desk was extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurants. On the down side, the hotel is a bit jaded and dated but all in all it was very good value for the price we got it at.
