Our 4 day trip to Barcelona was excellent. We booked the Nouvel thro' Travel Republic without hassle and at a good rate. The location could not be more central and within a 5 minute walk from Placa Cataluya/Aerobus stop from the airport.
Other reviewers complain about the hard beds but in all our stays in Spain (30 years+) they are not the best but what the hell! We all survived? If you are quoted for breakfast don't bother. It is mediocre and there are lots of cafes -even in Carrer Santa Anna
The staff are great and very helpful. PS you don't need a TV remote unless you are lazy. Controls are on the TV!

The hotel is located only 5 minutes walk from Placa Cataluyana- the hub of the tour bus system- and the drop-off point for the Aerobus from the airport. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially as my wife was ill when we arrived. Santa Anna- the street location of the hotel is pededestrian and is served by many good cafes, take-aways, and inexpensive restaurants- particularly recommened was restaurant Casa Cortez diagonally opposite the hotel- which serves a three course menu, changed every day, from about 12.30 till 21.00hrs. The 2 day pass on the Tourist bus with hop on/off facility is a good way to see the sights- the 1 day pass is relatively much more expensive. So what are my two criticisms- the breakfast at over 10 euros pp is expensive- even Barcelona airport does not charge this, and the evening meal at the hotel does not start serving until 21.00 hrs- far too late for us.

Its an old hotel, but the room looks brand new.
I had the room with a terrace(unfortunately with no view). The bathroom was strangely huge(bigger than the bedroom). Bed was a bit hard.
And I hate that you have to put deposits for the TVs remote control

Excellent location, 1 minute walk to Las Ramblas and 5 minutes to the airport shuttle bus.
Everything is close-by.

Staff was extremely nice and helpful. One staff brings a couple of her boys and we had a lot of fun playing with them.

Its on a small street so taxis cannot drop you in front of the hotel.
Price was expensive, but I stayed on New year's eve should that might be reason.

The hotel is old but that means the rooms have high ceilings. We had a triple family room which was intelligently laid out. The street view meant we also had a couple of balconies too! Room was clean and neat. Heating was good as was sound-proofing - not bullet proof but effective. Service was efficient and good. Didn't try the breakfast as there are plenty of local places; €10 per head seemed a bit steep. Charged for the use of the safe deposit box which was new to me! Apart from that, highly recommended for a clean, neat 3* hotel with character in a great location.
