“Would definitely stay here again :o)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

Lovely venue - esp marble bathroom, staff too: - friendly & helpful.
However noisy beds and `laundry facilities' inappropriate - access to an iron would have been better.
Access to the restaurant to purchase hot drinks should be made available for those not wanting/ordering breakfast (and that the provision of a kettle in the room). As there is no bar it is not a place to visit alone.

“Average hotel with excellent location”

We´ve chosen this hotel because of its location and it really was a perfect decision. Metro station, Placa Espanya and Magic fountain are all just across the road, as well as the shopping centre with loads of restaurants. I espacially recommnend Dim Sum Wok restaurant where we you could eat as much as you want at a very good value compare to others. Hotel itself is nice and clean with a big bathroom a comfortable beds. But what I really mind was that you could hear every step coming from the corridors and rooms next door as there are no carpets anywhere, just tiles. Therefore you can get a good sleep only between midnight and 7am.

“Not up to standard”

Felt a bit let down with this hotel after once staying in the same star B hotel just up the road, the room we had was clean and tidy but had seen better days, clean towels every day and the cleaning staff kept the rooms and the rest of the hotel ship shape. There was a nice new flat screen T V but not one English channel not even CCN, so what let it down was the noise not the hotels fault but the people who used it. There was an uncalled for slamming of doors at all hours of the night, so never had a good nights sleep the four day we were there, it was if they can do it then so can we. So I give this hotel poor marks for this alone.
We went as two Couples and had a great time got to see most of the best site, had some good nights out with some great food and a lot to drink, best restaurant near the hotel, La Bodegueta del Poble Sec and some happy nights in the El Rincon del Cava, also for breakfast try the Museo Jamon Arlnas just over the main Gran Via road.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have small balconys and face the old bull ring now a new shopping centre.

“A reasonable hotel with a very convenient location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

It is a hotel on the simple side but clean. The rooms are large and in good conditions with the exception of the beds that were not comfy because the mattresses seem quite old or, at least, not in good conditions anymore. Another very unpleasant thing was the air conditioning which was very noisy. Still on the bad side, the safer of the room was broken. The internet signal was very low in the room (at the 4th floor) and the signal disappeared very frequently. It was almost useless.

The street facing the hotel is quite and no noise could be heard from outside. However the acoustic isolation between rooms and between the rooms and the corridor is not good. We could hear people walking and talking in the corridors and in the room above ours.

The location is very convenient: there is a main subway station less than 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel and many buses. The express bus that makes the connection to the airport also stops less than 200 m from the hotel. There are several restaurants and a very modern shopping center (converted from a bullfighting arena) just in front of the hotel.

The staff is kind and helpful.

“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

I wanted a place that was safe to walk, yet was reasonably close to shopping, as my elderly mother and I were travelling together. Since this was my first time to Barcelona, we took a cab from the airport to the hotel. For 2 of us, it cost us around 24 euros. The hotel is in an excellent location; close to many reasonable priced restaurants, close to metro stations and airport buses and close to the Barcelona Tour bus stop. During the day, we did the Barcelona tourist bus and at night, we watched the beautiful fountain, a very short walk from the hotel. We did not pay for the hotel breakfast as we knew we couldn't eat that much. Instead, we went to the basement of the shopping mall (converted from a bullfighting arena) and enjoyed crepes, gelato and pastries. There are many places to eat near the hotel and the food was good and reasonably priced.

There were only a few bad things: One was that our flight into Barcelona was so early that the hotel couldn't check in early However, the hotel had a place for us to store our bags. Also, I could hear the clicking of the shoe heels from the floor above us in the morning. Also, internet access in the room was very faint, however, I didn't want to go to the lobby to access the internet and was able to do a few non-network intensive work from my computer.

Access to and from the airport, on the L1 was very reasonable (5.30 euros) and fast.
