after reserving this hotel (through an agent on the last minute) i read some reviews here and became sad. but i realy didn't find such a poor hotel as i read here. it was a very reasonable 2 stars hotel. service is ok. had no problems. it is clean and feels clean. we didn't eat there so i don't know about the food. i slept realy good. and the small room was just ordinary and small but even that wasn't realy too bad. had hot water etc etc. The location is excellent - near the train station. very nice altogether if you expect a bssic hotel.

Although this is at the budget end of the Barcelona price range, this was still a very basic hotel for the money and star rating. The room was small, and although it was clean, there was an awful smell continuously coming from the drains in the ensuite. Breakfast was minimal, and the customer service at the front desk varied enormously depending on which member of staff was there.

The hotel's checking out procedures are rather strange. Instead of an invoice, I was presented with a credit card receipt for the room as they'd already withdrawn the funds from my account - timestamped at 3am that morning. On getting home, I found that this amount had been withdrawn from my account three times (I stayed two nights). No amount of phoning and emailing the hotel would get them to respond to this. It was only when I complained to activehotels - who I had booked through - that they refunded the money.

On the plus side - good location next to Estacion de Francia.

OK, It was a 2 star hotel so I wasn't expecting much. Firstly, the staff at reception were so rude, it doesn't cost anything to be polite. Having said that the cleaning staff were lovely. Few other problems, I had to ask for elevator to be turned on( receptioniat was none too helpful - If you don't speak fluent spanish he'll be annoyed so don't bother even making the effort to speak your basic spanish as I did as it will not be appreciated). The way to my room was blocked with bags of laundry, my room card consistently failed requiring yet another trip to reception -ugh. The room itself was basic and small but wasn't expecting much else really. Although I have complemented the location you'd really be better off paying a small bit more and going somewhere decent. This place wasn't worth the small amount of money I saved.

Clean, friendly stuff, check if your door card works before you climb to room, breakfast is two croissant , butter, marmalade, coffee and juice. the best location for exploring Barcelona.
