We stayed there for three nights. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt like we were going home everyday. Rooms were average, but the staff made a huge different. We stayed in another 4 stars in barcelona but we missed the homely feeling in Moderno. Breakfast was very good. Nice selection of breads, cereal, meat, cheese...etc. and nice coffee. Location is great. Would stay here again.

Typical European rooms (small by American standards). Clean and comfortable. Very helpful staff at front desk, great recommendations for food, local interests and transportation. Televisions could use an update, and they were having an unusual internet connection issue. Wonderful restaurant next door for paella - Cullera de Boix. We would stay there again, because it was a good value for the money, and the staff were some of the most accommodating that I've had the pleasure of experiencing.

This hotel is in a perfect location, literally just off La Rambla, meaning you are walking distance of most of the major sites. Also means you can walk here in about 10 minutes from Plaza Catalunya where the airport bus drops you.

I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever come across such helpful staff as at the Hotel Moderno, from offering advice, to printing boarding passes they could not have been more helpful.

Downsides however were that the rooms were incredibly hot, and I stayed here in December. So hot that I got headaches.

Furthermore the doors are impossible to close without slamming so you are awoken as soon as people have got up in the morning.

The facilities themselves are basic but clean and everything you need is provided.

Free fast internet is great!

Overall this hotel is ok and I would stay here again although I would look for somewhere else first I think.

Very pleased with our two night stay at this hotel. It is situated very close to a good selection of bars and food outlets but is still quiet. Also well placed for visiting port area and for transport by bus or metro. The rooms were adequate. They were clean and a decent size but in 2 of the 3 rooms there was no window. The breakfasts were better than expected with a decent range of choice. We found the reception staff very helpful. For the price paid I would rate this as very good value and we would certainly stay there again.
