We checked out of this hotel on the 30th January following a 3 night stay.
On check in we were allocated a twin room (had requested a double) with a view of the interior of the hotel, we decided to upgrade of which there was an extra charge per night however the upgrade meant that we had a balcony overlooking Las Ramblas as well as a large bed and a bath.
This room was perfectly clean, the bed was a little hard following a long day sightseeing, but had all ammenities which I was expecting. The addition of a kettle and a fridge would have been beneficial. There is a hot drink vending machine available however it was out of use, the hotel were happy to provide some hot water so that my husband could take some medication.
You could hear noise from outside during the night, although it is in a very central location so this was expected, also there are double glazed doors and shutters on the balcony rooms.
The breakfast buffet was absolutely fine, it was included in our room price and the staff were very helpful.
The reception staff were very friendly and were happy to offer restaurant recommendations which we did use one night and it was a good meal, however, I think the better option is to look for yourself, we found a fantastic restaurant which is not on any of the guide book recommendations and it was beautiful and in a very tourist orientated area.
There is a sex shop nearby and numerous ladies of the night who play cat and mouse with the local police, this did not cause us any concern and there were no problems.
I was frequently warned regarding personal safety before our trip due to pickpocketing etc and did take this quite seriously, I did not however feel intimidated at any point, maybe because I had heeded the warnings and was carrying my personal items in a suitable bag and wearing gloves etc.
We thouroughly enjoyed our trip and would recommend the hotel for its ease of access to all tourist points as well as the staff, cleanliness and value.
