We booked this hotel as it was close enough to bars, clubs and restaurants but not too close to be kept up all night by the noise. At first sight, we were very pleased as the hotel has been decorated to a high standard and the receptionist could speak a good amount of English to assist us with any queries we had. We asked if it was possible to get a terrace and the receptionist said yes. We were put in room 704 which was on the 7th floor (either top floor or 2nd top). I would recommend this room highly!! The terrace alone was massive!! And had no other terraces above it, so you were guaranteed sun all day long. The room was nice too, everything you would expect...big bed, bath, shower, mini bar, safe, TV, etc. The bed was quite annoying as it was 2 singles together so if you want a cuddle during the night you have to pick one single bed to lie on or you will both end up in between the beds! Also, to keep my water cold I had to take all the hotels items out the mini fridge and put them back in before leaving as there wasn't enough room for both my stuff and theirs. Plus no kettle to make your own tea, but there is a restaurant in the hotel that does breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Myself and my partner walked to La Rambla, this was just over an hours walk. Walking there was ok but once on La Ramlba we got a bus that takes you back to Avenue Diagonal (10 minutes away from the hotel). We just asked someone at a bus tours desk and they told us where to get this bus.
In terms of bars and clubs, we took a while to find some. In particular, we were interested in cocktails. There was a place called Oli En Un Llum which is a cocktail bar and this was great. Bar staff were very attentive and done beautiful cocktails. We found directions to this place in a leaflet called BC Night 2011 found in the hotel. Another good bar we found was La Sede, this was very friendly bar and the cheapest we had found at 7 euro 50 for 2 vodka's and coke (far cry from 16 euro which we had paid in one place). It also got quite bust around 12 o'clock which was good atmosphere.
Back to the hotel, one thing that I found annoying me was how early the cleaners came round, they chapped the door every day at half 9 and if we put the sign outside to tell them not to we were still woken by them standing outside our room talking to each other for a good 15 minutes. However, in saying this, if we left the room for a few hours and changed the sign on our door asking them to clean it, it was always done by the time we got back. So this makes up for it. Also, they were very good at cleaner the rooms, always left them spotless!
All in all, we had a very good stay and would highly recommend this hotel. What I would say is that the locals told us that August is the quietest month of the year in Barcelona, especially the week from 11th to 18th August so maybe pick a different month to go on. Either way, you will not be disappointed with the hotel!!! We weren't.
Room Tip: Ask for a terrace if you want this, we did and they were happy to assist.
