“Great Location !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed here for two nights and was just what my partner and I were looking for. 5 Minutes walk from the bus stop, easy to find and nice and quiet whilst being in an ideal central location.

My partner and I arrived at the hotel at 11am after an early flight just hoping to drop off our bags to return later on in the day and check-in, however the reception desk staff were very kind and helpful and said if we returned in 30 minutes we could check-in early.

The room on the 6th floor was ideal, clean and what you would expect for 60 euros a night - very basic but I don't see this as a negative thing. We did not spend much time in the hotel as we were up early to soaking up the atmosphere/sights, and came back late so didn't require much more than a bed and shower facilities.

Thouroughly recommend this hotel for anyone on a short-visit, needing a central location thats walking distance of lots of the tourist attractions / public transport.

“Rooms quiet, but drab”

The NH Duc de la Victoria was adequate for our two night stay after our Mediterranean cruise. We wanted to be in the Gothic Quarter, and it was very well located and not loud. We had a room in the back, but due to rain and humidity the room felt small and stuffy and we couldn't open the window because it would rain in. The TV was ancient and the lighting was very low voltage. The bathroom was large and adequate for our needs. There's no luxury here, but the price is moderate and the staff is very friendly. I think this hotel needs refurbishing. Then it might be a real jewel in the Gothic Quarter.

“Perfect location & hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Back to Barcelona for 2 nights in January and first time here at the NH Duc de la Victoria. Situation is ideal very, very central and minutes from the aerobus drop off point in Placa Catalunya. Had booked in advance on NH hotels website during flash sales at 55 euro a night so checkin was quick & efficient. Allocated room 329 on third floor overlooking the back of the hotel & Decathon store below.

Room was a good size and plenty of storage space and fridge/minibar. I was handed an offers card on checkin which advertised the full minibar for 9.72 euro which is very good value if you wanted to empty it !!! There was also offers to upgrade room to superior for 16.20 euro or to a junior suite for 37.80 euro which seemed good value. Bed was lovely & big & long and very comfortable to sleep in. Blackout curtains were good & provided a good night's sleep. As rear facing there was absolutely no noise except from some kids in the morning going to breakfast from nearby rooms. There was 3 lifts to the 6 floors which seemed like a lot but we still had to wait for one on Sunday when checking out. Bathroom was up to the usual NH standard & pretty adequate, small amount of shampoo & shower gels which were replaced after use. Good sized tub & shower was fine too.

Breakfast was not included in my rate but there are plenty of coffee shops & bars nearby for morning coffee & croissants both mornings ( less so on the Sunday)
There is 30 minutes free wifi in the lobby but no free internet to print off boarding passes & reception did not seem to want to help only pointing to pay internet service which was 5 euro......did print off boarding passes at internet shop near Placa Reial for 25 cents... most hotels do now offer a free facility for this service nowadays, take note NH Hotels.

Otherwise very pleased with the hotel & would recommend & stay again if got a good rate. It really is the perfect location & easy to find even if you are a first time visitor to Barcelona. All the shops/bars /restaurants are on your doorstep as is the Ramblas....

“It's a must....”

First time to Barcelona, so wasn't sure what to expect.... but hotel was lovely, deserves a four star I reckon. Checking in was easy and straight forward, rooms was spotless. I love continental breakfast, so was really pleased with the hotels buffet that they put on. Mini bar was cheap, which was a surprise. Would recommend.

“very near to attraction, clean, quiet, ask for nothing more”

This is the 2nd time for me to visit Barcelona, but the first time to stay in this hotel.
if you look for luxury and character, this isn't the place. But you will find a simple business hotel, clean and quiet, than bingo ! We didn't take breakfast on this hotel at that time.

We came to stay in this hotel end of May 2011 for 2 nights (just have the time to write it down now).
I came with my hubby and child (8yo). We got the room at extra bed, small balcony, and what we like is the hotel in the quiet alley, walking distance from the Areobus airport bus stop at Placa Catalunya and to Cathedral. The room was compact and didn't feel too cramp although we had extra bed.
The bathroom has shower and bath tub, complete amenities (hair dryer, toiletries)
We walked around the Barri Gothic, just not that far from the hotel. Lots of places to eat .. walk around 5-10 minutes to Picasso place, and still can walk until we reach La Musica de Palau and other market (not the one at the RA Lambra, forget the name already).
Just 2-3 minutes walk to La Rambla and we can walk down to beach and also to the Maritime Museum.

On our last day, we were rushing as we were looking for Caleum cafe around Barri Gothic. Got lost and we had only a little time to rush to Airport. Thank God that this hotel is nearby the Aerobus, .. so we could catch the airport bus on time.
If we have another chance to visit BCN again, definitely will return to this hotel.
Value for money, clean, quiet ...yup quietness which is something you will hard to find in Barcelona :-)
