“Close to everything, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Check in was a breeze even though I arrived before noon. I had booked a single room. And that's what I got. No question it's the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. That said, it was, contrary to several reviews I had read, clean and order free. The furnishings all appeared to be relatively new, including a flat screen TV. There was a limited number of channels with only one or two in English and they were sports.
Located within a 15-20 minute easy walk to the center of town, the location was fine. It's also only a block from the Metro, which turned out to be a great way to get around. And if a cab is required, you had about a 10 second wait.
The only downside I encountered was the location of the room. I was facing the street which was at times rather loud.
Would I stay there again? Yes. But I'd request a courtyard facing room and book for two people in hopes of getting a larger room.

“Great location, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I stayed here for 4 nights, Tuesday - Saturday morning in mid-January. I loved the location and the neighbourhood, not as touristy as down near La Rambla but very close to all the sights; with access to all the metro lines within a 2 block radius and surrounded by Modernisme buildings. When I took a taxi to Barcelona Sants on Saturday morning it was only 10 euro.

I found the staff all to be very helpful and friendly; most of the front office staff spoke English fairly well, although I tried to speak Spanish as much as possible. The first night my room was too hot, even with the window open I couldn't get it cool enough to sleep, but they happily moved me to another room facing the street the following morning and I was more than comfortable; even with a smaller bed.

The rooms were modern and comfortable with a good selection of TV channels, including an English news channel. The washroom was well equipped, although the shower curtain was very clingy.

I did not have breakfast at the hotel as it was 14 Euro, the small bar next door offered a coffee and croissant for 2 Euro, which is all I need to start the day. There are many restaurants and bars in the area in a variety of price ranges, so you're sure to find something to fit your budget. I was a regular at the Cerveseria Catalana down the street for dinner, great tapas, beer, wine and dessert for moderate prices.

The area has all that you need except for a self service laundromat, for that I had to take the metro to the Raval district, but it was an easy trip.

Overall, I would happily stay here again and would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the street if you like a cooler room.

“A great place to relax after a hectic day's sightseeing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Spent 2 nights here whilst sightseeing in Barcelona. The weather was incredibly hot, so we were thankful for the superb air conditioning! The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable, if slightly small. The location wasn't too bad - around a 5-10min walk to the nearest Metro station and a 25 min walk to the top of Las Ramblas. Probably one of the main highlights of the hotel was its secluded garden area, complete with pool and jaccuzzi - perfect to unwind in after a long day walking around the streets!

“Great location, some down sides”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We stayed here for 4 nights from Thursday to Sunday night in mid January.

Pros:
-Great location in between two metros with good restaurants around it.
-Friendly staff, including the housekeepers who always knocked, were courteous, and helped us out when we asked
-Not a large room, but a comfortable size, especially for the price. Great value
-Staff offered to change rooms for us since we were near the lobby, and suggested another room which could be quieter. Really appreciated this since we didn't even ask.

Cons:
-We changed rooms 3 times (1st time was not the hotel's mistake). The 2nd room smelled like a sewer and we asked to change rooms.
-The water in our last room took a very long time to turn hot. We always had to wait at least a few minutes. It didn't cause any problems after it did turn warm, but it took a while to get there.

Overall, would recommend with some precautions. But great value for its price and no complaints there.

“Great location... Average Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

This hotel was average at best. We stayed here in May for 3 nights. The hotel has older rooms, but we were not in the hotel much at all. Very close to all the shopping districts and about a 6 minute walk to the subway. Hotel staff was average as was the hotel. I would recomend this hotel only on location and and price.
