I had an overnight transit through Barcelona and picked this hotel at the last minute on hotels.com or booking.com as it had a very good sale price. The map showed it was fairly centrally-located, so I figured there would be restaurants nearby, but it was not too close to the Plaza Catalunya since there was a soccer match between Barcelona and Real Madrid that night. Even though the game was played in Madrid, I knew that the crowds would be in the central plaza regardless of the outcome (and they were still stragglers when I left for the airport at 5:30am).
The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the reception staff was extremely helpful in guiding me toward restaurants nearby that were ideal for a woman traveling alone. I had a delicious meal at a tapas bar/tavern just around the corner from the restaurant (to the left and left again as you exit the hotel).
The room was very clean and minimalist, which I prefer. The bed was firm and both the room and bath were more spacious than I've had in a lot of European hotels. And, best of all, it was absolutely SILENT. A quiet hotel while staying in a city is a real bonus.
I've had very good experiences at a number of hotels in the Catalonia line in Madrid, so I will continue booking in one or another on my frequent trips to and through Spain.
