“Very comfortable for overnight transit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I had an overnight transit through Barcelona and picked this hotel at the last minute on hotels.com or booking.com as it had a very good sale price. The map showed it was fairly centrally-located, so I figured there would be restaurants nearby, but it was not too close to the Plaza Catalunya since there was a soccer match between Barcelona and Real Madrid that night. Even though the game was played in Madrid, I knew that the crowds would be in the central plaza regardless of the outcome (and they were still stragglers when I left for the airport at 5:30am).
The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the reception staff was extremely helpful in guiding me toward restaurants nearby that were ideal for a woman traveling alone. I had a delicious meal at a tapas bar/tavern just around the corner from the restaurant (to the left and left again as you exit the hotel).
The room was very clean and minimalist, which I prefer. The bed was firm and both the room and bath were more spacious than I've had in a lot of European hotels. And, best of all, it was absolutely SILENT. A quiet hotel while staying in a city is a real bonus.
I've had very good experiences at a number of hotels in the Catalonia line in Madrid, so I will continue booking in one or another on my frequent trips to and through Spain.

“Good location and reasonably okay Feb 2011”

Found the hotel last minute by walking through the front door. The property is clean and I found the staff helpful. My scribbled notes in my day book remind me that the bed was a real king size but very very hard. As the only other note to self is regarding 'not worth full price' and also that I didn't write anything horrible, my recollection is that it isn't a 4 star but a 3 star 'want to be'. Acceptable but not memorable. I think my window looked out onto someone else's window - fine as I didn't book in for the view. I recall that the bathroom was a decent size and that it was well lit. I didn't use the bar or restaurant.

“For a city-centre hotel, not at all bad!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

We finished off the last three days of our tour here in Barcelona.

Room quality is a lottery; whilst ours was large and spacious and quite well-furnished, it suffered from having no natural daylight at all. Our window overlooked what seemed a prison yard - hence the heavy curtains! Also, the hallways could do with carpeting as they were quite noisy when other guests walked down them at night.

Good points: friendly staff, good breakfast buffet and excellent location.

I would stay here again.

“Basic, Noisy but good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

This hotel has a very good location, close to Paseo de Gracia, Close to subway stations and close to main Gaudi attractions La Pedrera y Batllo
However is too expensive for what it offers:
- Room size Ok
- VERY noisy!!! If you are tired and want to sleep until late morning, forget it!!!! You will hear every single noise in the building specially the maids cleaning the rooms, every steps cracks the hotel.
- Beds are very uncomfortable, I got a terrible back ache at the end of my vacation

One good thing, service is great and personnel are very kind

Room Tip: Don't select rooms with windows facing the inner garden to the building besides. You will hear a...

“Perfect way to end a vacation in Spain!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We were so pleased w/services & room standard. While many indicated rooms were small, I was quite impressed by size especially considering price. Beds were extremely comfortable... love the pillows in Spain! The room greeted us w/nice fragrance. The bathroom was huge equipped with shampoo and such. The central location was amazing. We walked everywhere and the Gaudy apartment building was only a block away! Hop-on bus, a 5 minute walk that is also ontop of Gracias Blvd that leads to Ramblas We arrived late in the eveniing. Cab took about 1/2 hour from airport, 35 Euros for 4 w/baggage. Katerina at the desk was MOST helpful especially with free WiFI connection. Coffee bar in hotel started morning off. Preferred light breakfast outside. Safe keys always seem to be extra cost in Spain.

Room Tip: on a walking vacation i don't need a patio but there was the option. we stayed in standard room...
