“Great value hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

This is my second visit to this hotel after staying here a couple of years ago. I had booked three double rooms and one triple for some friends of mine for our annual weekend away. However, at last minute one of my friends was unable to come. When I arrived at the reception, I told the receptionist we wouldn't need a third bed in one of the rooms and he promptly removed it from our invoice for the weekend. This was a most welcome and pleasant surprise.

The hotel itself is much the same as before, in that it is smart, very clean and perfectly located for a great weekend in Barcelona. You are 5 minutes walk from Las Ramblas and 2 minutes from the marina. The rooms are all in good order and I would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay.

A little tip for getting there:
If you are flying in to Barcelona BCN Terminal 2, don't waste money on a taxi unless you have a lot of heavy bags. Take one of the many blue buses outside the terminal. They will have A2 on the front display panel. A return ticket (valid for 9 days) is €9.15. It is approximately a 15 minute ride to the last stop which is Plaça de Catalunya. From here you walk straight down Las Ramblas (which is a real eye opener if you've never been) and take the very last left before you get to the roundabout (which has a 60 metre high Columbus monument on it, so you can't miss it). The street is called Carrer Ample and it is 5 minutes down there on the left, just past a beautiful old church. In all, it is a really enjoyable 15 minute walk from where the bus drops you off.

“Good location, basic accommodation”

We stayed here for 3 nights in March 2011, the room was smallish and basic, but clean and comfortable, so fine as a base to visit fabulous Barcelona, being just a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas. We found an excellent bakery/cafe less than a minute away where we breakfasted each day with great coffee and delicious pastries, very good price. There are many bars doing great Tapas nearby as well.

Our friends room looked over the street, their room was larger, but they found it very noisy at night as the hotel is on a busy street with lots of bars. Our smaller room was very quiet and we slept well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back as its a noisy street.

“Average hotel. Great location.”

This hotels biggest asset is its location. We booked two room, one each, due to it's excellent price. My room was extremely small & really only suitable for one person while my mothers room was slightly bigger. The beds were comfortable & clean as was the room itself. I would not recommend this hotel if you want to spend time there. However, who goes to a fabulous place like Barcelona to sit in a hotel room. We will definitely return to this hotel due to its convenience to all central attractions.

“Ideal for us”

Good clean hotel, reasonably priced, excellent location close to the sea front, La Ramblas, cathederal etc.

We stayed in a large group and didnt use it for more than a place to sleep. The walls are thin and the noise from the street can be very loud long into the night - in some of the rooms. We didnt eat there but there are better value breakfasts to be had virtually anywhere in the city.

Spent a lot of time in Ryans Irish bar across the road which is excellent and very lively. Plenty of shops and restaurants in all directions. Would probably find a better facility if we went to Barcelona again, as a couple, but for a large party having fun it was ideal!

Room Tip: away from the main street if you like it quieter although the courtyard rooms dont have a view at al...

“Great location, poor customer service”

Stayed here for 3 nights.

Great location, 2 min walk to La Ramblas, also short walk to waterfront and Picasso museum. Lots of nice cafes and restaurants on same street- would highly recommend Sensi directly opposite-amazing tapas, reasonable prices and v friendly staff!

Room big enough but quite dark, no tea/coffee making facilities or phone but free wifi worked well.
Had an interior room so no street noise but could hear nearby showers/toilets flushing which seemed very loud.

Main con was customer service- my husband managed to stain a nice shirt-we went back to hotel straight after dinner, soaked stain then took it to reception to get it dry cleaned. Told it would be done following day and ready to collect day after that. When husband went to get it 36 hours later he saw it hanging behind reception still damp from soaking. The lady said she didn't know why it hadnt been cleaned, did not say sorry or seem slightest bit apologetic and couldn't even guarantee if could be done that day! Was eventually cleaned but again a different girl on collection didn't apologise for the mess up.

Overall ok for price and great location but rude staff left a bad impression of the place.
