To be honest after reading some of the reviews I was concerned BUT we needed to stay in the area. The Princess Sofia was full so I booked a room here. I used one of the booking sites so I wasn't expecting a great experience.

The room was excellent. I requested a cot for an infant and it was waiting for us. The suite was large and well furnished. The staff were very very helpful at all times.

The one area where I felt could be addressed was the price of the food in the restaurant. Very pricy for what was delivered BUT the beer was ice cold. If going back to Barcelona this hotel will be my first port of call.

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor so it was really quiet

Thank you very, very much for your comments. I'm specially grateful because as you mention, we had recently had a couple of negative opinions and with you taking the time to write about us, you have contributed to the credibility of my previous answers saying that bad experiences in our hotel are unfortunate exceptions which are not representative of our high standard.

I'm also happy to announce that since this week we have a new wifi system which has enourmously improved the speed and quality of the internet connection. This will undoubtly increase the satisfaction of our guests.

I'm very glad we were able to deliver you a good service, this is what we work for. And again thank you for your contribution.

Rooms are average... internet connection is poor... but service is great and made up for any shortcomings.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm glad you received an excellent service. I will let my collaborators know and it will lift their spirits.

Since you came, the whole wi-fi system has been changed and it now works very good. We have done a big investment but it definitely pays out because our guests are now totally satisfied with the connectivity.

This issue is a clear example of how useful guest's comments are. Often guests do not give us feedback while staying in the hotel, we only know how their experience was, once they've left and if they decide to write. We realised how often the wifi service was defficient thanks to comments like this one. And we decided to solve it!

The space of the room is nice. There is no gym and it is expensive to go to the gym they are partnered with. As indicated earlier, you have to pay for the internet. In the rooms, it is so slow you cannot use it. I made them take the prepaid card back. We'll see what happens when I check out. The internet is free in the bar, but is low to average speed. The breakfast is very expensive for what you get. There is nothing hot. But if you like cereal, cold cuts, juice and fruit, you are set. But since you have a fridge, save some money and go get some groceries. The drinks in the room are free, so maybe that offsets the breakfast cost. I saw the last posting said a phone was stolen. Writing this right now makes me want to go check on my GPS watch I left charging in the room since I have to be in the lobby to write this. A friend also staying here had his iPad2 stolen, so lock your goods. There is an ATM right across the street, so no need to get cash at the airport. You can get it here quickly.

Dear guest,

By the verb time you use I understand that you are still lodged in the hotel.

Regarding breakfast: we do offer hot plates but they are served under order. We just do not have them in the buffet because we think they are much better cooked on the spot. Please feel free to order them tomorrow if you wish.

What you comment of the slowness in the internet unfortunately is happening sometimes lately and is causing us understandable problems with our guests. Our supplier is Telefonica and it is failing in its service more often than it is acceptable. We are already receiving offers to change the whole wi-fi system. However, if you would be so kind as to inform the front desk about this speed problem in the area of your room, we could at least open the incidence with them and pursue that it is solved.

Thefts: this is a most uncomfortable issue. All entries are registered through the card system in each room and we are investigating the entry records in your colleague's room. The staff we have has long been with us, all of them are trustworthy and we have never had problems of this kind before. In any case, all of the master cards which have access to all rooms have been reseted in order to stop any risk of further incursions. We are addressing this with your colleague and are most interested in finding out what has happened and give him a satisfying solution.

“Convenient location and spacious rooms, but a few problems”

I stayed in this place for 2 weeks on a business trip and the hotel was chosen mostly due to a convenient location. I was happy with the spacious rooms and great breakfast, but there were a few problems that interfered with my business trip:

- Internet connection was slow or non-existent due to challenges from Telefonica, the service provider; it was possible to work from the lobby as many of us did, where the connection was good
- There was water dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom, so you had to keep towels on the sink and floor in order not to hear "drip, drip" at night. I was offered to change the room as this was not something that could have been fixed, but I just think that no rooms should have this problem to begin with.
- I had a phone stolen from my room, and the management did address the issue, they compensated for one night stay, which ended up being 1/4 of expenses that I incurred due to the missing phone (someone has ran up my bill). So, lock your valuables - laptop, phone etc. There are no guarantees that it will stay safe otherwise.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't have leaks in the bathroom. And lock your valuables.

Dear Guest,

I had the opportunity to talk to you when you we re lodged. Again my most sincere apologies for the dissapeared phone. I thought then that what had most probably happened was that it had been thrown to wash by mistake with the bedsheets. Just today, another theft has been recorded. Before your case this had never happened before. We have now taken strict measures reseting the whole of the card locks of each room.

Leaking ceiling: you never mentioned that to me. That is an easy issue to address by our maintenance personnel. I have actually sent them to check the room you were staying but there are no longer signs of what you describe.

Internet problems: I give you the same answer as I unfortunately had to give the guest which wrote on the 11.10. Yes we have had problems and we have decided to change our provider due to them.

Warm regards and hope to see you again if you decide to come to Barcelona.

I suppose I should have guessed from the price that the hotel wouldn't be all that good, but sadly I was taken in by the high quality photos. Big was far from beautiful in the case of the AC Victoria Suites. The room was tired and depressing. Plastic and cheap materials everywhere. In the bathroom, numerous signs of wear and botched touching up.

This budget experience was also reflected in other areas. Whilst I expect to pay extra for things like wifi when staying in a low-cost hotel, I don't expect to do so when having what AC describe as a luxury experience. Also, if there is charge, I expect this to be clearly indicated on the website when booking.

AC needs to re-consider its approach here. Is this a low-cost or a quality hotel?

Dear Guest,

I do quite agree with you in what you comment about having to pay the wifi service. AC's policy is to give free wifi in the lounge and charge it in the rooms. As you probably have read in previuos comments, this is an issue we have upscaled to our central office in numerous occassions but that for the moment has unfortunately not been changed.

If you could perhaps write a direct email to the hotel mentioning the room number you where in, we could take a deep look at it and fix whatever is not in the proper state of maintenance. However, in general terms, I'am afraid I cannot agree in the way you describe the room. Materials are not a matter of subjective perception, they are what they are, and the truth is the rooms were refurbished with top materials only: marble bathrooms, wooden floors, wooden cupboards, headboards and table, glass and steel coffee tables, nice textiles both in curtains, sofa and headboards, etc. No plastic anywhere...!

In any case, dear Guest, I'm sorry we did not fulfill your expectations and I even though in this case, it is not particularly good for us, I appreciate your contribution in Tripadvisor.
