“Good location but not 4 Star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

You must use this hotel if you want just a 10 min walk to La Rambla and the Marina area. Excellent location for public tranport routes. The bus stop is directly outside and the Metro (Paral.Lel) is less than a minute walk away. This hotel is small and modern with a lovely roof terrace overlooking the city. It is classed as 4 star but would say it is more 2- 3 star. Clean modern rooms but the beds are very uncomfortable and small. We stayed in a twin room at the back of the hotel which meant there was hardly any street noise but the soundproofing in the hotel is very poor and spent the first 2 nights being kept awake by the loud snores of the man in the next room. I reported this to reception and for the next 2 nights no one else was booked into the room next door. You can hear the rumble of the Metro but this stops at midnight and got used to it after the first night. The sockets in the wall were loose, so extra care had to be taken. The rooms didn't have tea/coffee making facilities which was greatly missed, especially after a long day of sightseeing. The reception staff were very pleasant and the breakfast area looked very inviting although we didn't try it (too expensive)
We read a lot of reports prior to arriving in Barcelona stating that the area in which this hotel is situated (El Raval) is somewhere to be desired and can be a bit dodgy. However, we thought it was a great location in order get to all the main sights, there are plenty of bars and places to eat. Thoroughly recommend Los Cachitos on the corner for breakfast and evening meal, Bar Moritz across the street for a drink is cheap and quiet. You will be spoilt for choice. The Sant Antoni market is a 10 minute walk away. As two women travelling together the only time we felt uncomfortable was walking down Carrer de Sant Pau; this can be taken as a short cut from La Rambla to the hotel but half way down the street it felt unsafe and we wouldn't recommend walking down here at night. All in all the local people we very friendly, public transport is frequent, cheap and clean and the city is full of things to see and do. You will not be bored. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Rooms at back of hotel has very little street noise.

Dear guest

We are glad to hear you enjoyed time with us. Also, we’d like to thank you for taking a few minutes to write your impression of our hotel and share your experience with other fellow travelers.
Yes we are strategically located close to the La Rambla, which makes us the perfect hotel to start off the adventure in the city. There is always something artistic and interesting and peculiar going on, just waiting to welcome visitors.
We greatly apologize for that noise we realize it must have been quite a bother. We will make sure to assign rooms on the opposite side of the hotel.
If you find yourself planning your next stay, please don't hesitate in contacting us. We would love to have you back as a guest!.

Kind regards,
Hotel Acta Millenni,

“Low standards, dirty suite”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We travelled to Barcelona with 2 adults and one baby (14 months old). We were expecting to check into a nice hotel. Therefore we booked the hotel acta Millenni, the romantic package. This package should have been included the suite with bubblebath and kingsize bed. We had to pay 200 euro per night. On the day of arrival quite late in the evening we arrived at the hotel. We spent a 170 euro taxfare from the airport to get there. They brought our lugguage into a small room without babycot. They warned us not to go outsite in the evening because of burglers. So no save surrounding! First we had to wait on the babycot we especially had reserved, our baby was screaming of exhausting. When the friendly man went to find a babycot I saw that the room was just a small double room. So we had to go back to the reception to DISCUSS! that we had booked the romantic package suite. Unfortunately the receptionist didnt know what that was. But...after a while discussing we achieved to check into the suite eventually. We had to move our bags into the suite on the lower ground ourselves. It took us 30 minutes to get us what we booked for. When we saw the suite, there was a regular (small) double bed, approx. 140 cm and the mattras felt like wood. Also the bedlinnen was old and worn. Honestly I was afraid to lie down in this bed. Ok I told myself no problemo, bad luck. The baby cot at least seemed to be ok for the baby. I am graduated from the hotelmanagement school in the Netherlands so I knew that there were differences in standards and for some people would this be more than acceptable. So I went to the bathroom. The bubblebath was dirty, black OLD dirt. When I looked around the toilet didnt stop flushing and the cealing was dirty. Also the walls in the bathroom: old greasy dirt. On the bathroom floor old greasy dirt. That left a very ugly impression on me. We decided not to stay at the hotel and booked a suite in a 5 star plus hotel. When we told the receptionist to check out because of the dirt the man told us to pay the first night. Normally this would be no discussion but in this case the hotel shouldnt get any cent. He was telling us that he would call the police if we left the hotel. So we told him to. After a while he shouted at us and we did shout back in between the baby was crying. We felt like criminals. Also another guest at acta milleni stand interferred contra the hotel. After 30 minutes waiting with our screaming baby at the police to arrive he irritated told us that he contacted the manager and that we were "free" to go whithout paying the first night. But after three days they they booked the first night off our creditcard anyway. Since then the creditcard company tries to manage the payment back.

Conclusion: A big booooooo on your service Acta Millenni!!! Worsed hotel/ location Ever!

Dear guest,
We would like to thank you for choosing us during your recent visit to the city. We appreciate the time that you took to post your comments.
We are sorry our rooms did not fulfill your expectations. We have talked with the responsible receptionist on your arrival day and as you know we offered you a suite room for free even though you have booked a romantic package in a standard room, but you finally decided to change to another hotel. Unluckily, we had to charge you the first night due to cancellation policies. You can read all this information in your booking confirmation.
Referring to the cot, we are sorry for making you wait. We always recommend our clients to write down on your reservation this kind of requests so we have it already prepared at your arrival
We are surprised about your cleanliness complaint due to we always try to offer our customers the best cleaning service. However, we have talked to the responsible person and taken the necessary measures
We always recommend our clients to be careful with their personal stuff on the street due to thieves, but never not to go out of the Hotel because Barcelona it’s a save city.
Once more, we are sorry our hotel did not fulfill your expectations.

“Good price for central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

A good hotel for a fairly good price. Located in one of the more rough parts of the old town. The Raval part of old town has perhaps more down and outs but we never felt unsecure. The Guradia Civil has one of its locations close by on the street that leads to La Rambla de Raval, a nice open long plaza in the middle of the Raval quarter on your way to the big La Rambla of central Barcelona. On foot it's about 15 minute walk from hotel to La Rambla in central Barcelona. We never had breakfast in the hotel but ate in the cafes across the street from the hotel which was great. The are did not feel at all touristic but more with a touch of local life. I Can recommend the hotel if you look for a nice place to stay for a city break. We did not use any facilities so I can't say anything about them. The staff of the reception was kind and helpful.

Room Tip: We had a room facing away from the streets so we did not hear a thing from the outside. The wiev was...

“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and it was good. The staff were excellent and spoke English well. They helped us find some good restaurants in the area that have good sea food and not the touristic ones that will serve less authentic food.

The rooms and hotel was very clean and the furnishings looked new and there was nothing broken or anything that needed replacing. It was close to the metro which we recommend taking rather than the bus. The buses are confusing, the metro is very clear and takes you everywhere.

Room Tip: High floor, not facing street.

“Great location, nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We stayed at this hotel on the tail end of our honeymoon. Even though we showed up mid-morning on the day of our arrival, they were able to get us checked in early. The hotel and our room were both very clean and we felt like we were the only ones staying there (it was a Monday night, but we only a couple other guests the whole day). The room was small, but fine for us. Our only complaint was noise could be heard through the walls and people on the street could be heard as well during the early parts of the night. The metro was only a block away and the tapas restaurant across the street was great! Would definitely recommend based on our experience despite the noise.
