We spend our honeymoon at Avenida Palace in Barcelona in 2011. The hotel is very nice, clean and the stuff were helpful if you search an advice where to eat or to go. The hotel is placed in the centre of Barcelona at directly next of the Metro Station of Passeig de Gracia, very near from La Rambla and Plaza Catalunya. So if you decide to go by bus there, at the airport are blue busses they take you directly to Plaza Catalunya and then 2 streets (about 10-15min walk) is the hotel situated. Our room was spacious, clean, it had 2 TV and a large bathroom. Made came every days. We had a nice view over the city as we were at a higher floor. In the night you only feel the metro passing underneeth the hotel as it trembles slightly but this is not the hotel's fault. The room was very warm even the bathroom was very warm as we went in January and those days were quite cold. Near from them are a lot of restaurants and tapa bars and some pubs you can spend your nights. The funny was that in Janurary we went all was closing at 12 o clock in the night so if you go in the winter make sure you go out early :-). In general we had a very pleasant stay at the hotel and one I thing I liked, you could go from the hotel everywhere very easily due to the perfect position.

Location is excellent.
Still there are two reasons to avoid that Hotel; each of them is enough:
1. Room internet is 24 Euro/day. I believe that for TA members (people that combine traveling and network use) internet is a parameter. In today time to request such payment should be a NO GO.
2. The room was a double room but its size was maybe double the size of the bed. If this is a Palace. I wonder who the King is.

+ excellent location, you cannot find a better one, close to la rambla ans next to passeig de gracias, 5' walk from casa batllo and 10 from la pedrera

-unacceptable rooms. Broken toillet door, old and dirty carpet, old overused mattresses, terribly used bathroom sinks etc.m

Free wifi at reception was never there, it asked for 9 euro/day! Did i
complain?? I dont do this anymore..i just do not return to the place..
Not friendly reception staff, when asked to recommend a good place for new years eve they recomended only their own gala dinner at 140 euro pp!! Unnacceptable from a four star hotel !
And everytime you would ask something they made you feel bad for disturbing...
Junior suite in internet looked muc.h bigger than in reality...i wonder why...
"stingy" attitude in everything..from room service in breakfast where they deliver three little bread rolls and three little butters for three guests..even toillet paper is "measured"
Noisy rooms, no sound proof walls or doors.. You would wake up everytime anybody would leave or return.
Finally, the price for this room was almost 300 euros per night!!
I m sure many barcelona hotels are much better than this..

Stayed here recently for my 4th visit to Barcelona in 18months. Out of all the hotels I have stayed in this hotel is superbly located and is a nice hotel - however they advertise free wifi in public areas (lobby) which is true, though hey don't mention you have to go to reception to get a voucher that gives you 30 minutes continual wifi from the momen you log on. This drove me bonkers since I could not check emails etc on the fly whilst walking through reception without having to get a voucher!

This may seem trivial however as a company Director Internet access is imperative to keep in touch with my office.

If you don't need wifi - great hotel, however I wouldn't stay here again unfortunately:-(
