“Comfortable and Inexpensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

Train goes direct to Plaza Catalunya. We felt that it was convenient and yet away from the noise along La Ramblas. Wifi is free at the lobby. The only drawback was the lack of a kettle in the room and the cafe closes by noon.

Based on cost and location, we would probably stay there again.

Room Tip: no water boiling facilities in the room. toileties provided are good :)

“It came with a separate study!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the hotel, as I was expecting a lot less.
The receptionist was very nice and helpful. I stayed On the first floor. Not only did I have my own balcony, I had a separate study room!! The room was very spacious, clean, separate bathroom with a bath.
Even though the room was facing the main road it wasn't that noisy.
The area is very safe and quiet, your living amongst tye locals, so there wasnt that many tourists about, there is a metro 5mins down the road and a FGB (train) the other way which takes you to central Barcelona and San Cugat, I really recommd going there it's beautiful.
I have been to Barcelona before and stayed oh the la ramblas, but I much preferred staying here.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

Before I say anything else, I have to state that the staff here is excellent. All of them are very friendly and helpful without exception.

My problem is that I should have booked a higher quality hotel. I was trying to save some money and that was a mistake. The rooms are small, but that is not the problem. It needs a new coat of paint and some of it looks a bit unfinished. The room has a balcony, but is on a busy street. The free television channels are only in Spanish and the television is also an old one, not a flat screen.

At least the minibar is not as expensive as in most hotels. Also, the 24 hour internet costs ca. 10 EU which is half the price of the last hotel I stayed in.

The breakfast buffet is very nice with a Jura espressso machine and a large selection of foods including scrambled eggs and bacon or sausages. It costs ca. 10 EU if you book it for the whole stay as opposed to 14 Eu if you book it by the day.

I would only recommend it for someone who doesn't want to spend much money and doesn't expect much from a hotel.

“Great Hotel - would Defoe stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2011

Stayed Wed-Mon in April. Checked in at 11.15pm which was not a problem.
5 min walk to The Metro. then 10 mins journey to Catalunya Square. Metro leaves every 4 mins generally speaking. Last Metro from Catalunya Square is at 23.52 in mid week & 1.30am or so at weekends.Metro starts at 5 or 6am.
Get the T-10 tickets where for 7-8 Euros you get 10 single trips in the same zone.
Not much to do around hotel. However, there is a newsagents which is less than 2 mins walk and a bar that is 3-4 mins walk. Also, a couple restaurants. However, we only went out for a couple of hours on the first night.
We paid £120.00 each for 5 nights. Would be surprised if anyone found anything cheaper as I have seen a few sites that charge a lot more.
You can order food from your room at night. We were told 30 min wait. However, we waited nearly 2 hours.
Room was cleaned on a daily basis by a friendly cleaner. Friendly receptionists who speak basic English.
Summary - excellent price and location. In 15 mins you can get to Catalunya Square. Catalunya Square hotels are way more expensive & La Rambla has a lot of dodgy people. So this place is brilliant as it is close & easy to get to Catalunya Square, without actually paying shed loads and being in Catalunya. Any questions, then please message me.

“Just what we needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

We opted for NH Hotel's Weekend Extender promotion that included late Sunday checkout, free mini bar and free breakfast. The Condor was situated close to the #58 bus stop that would get us to Placa Catalunya in 10-15 minutes. This helped save time on our long weekend in Barcelona. The hotel provided a more than adequate breakfast. We even skipped lunch everyday, although never passing up the opportunity for gelatto. The rooms were standard European size with comfortable beds. There was a safe in each room and the bath products were better than most hotels. The front desk was impersonal and very businesslike. I doubt we could have found a hotel that better suited an adult couple wanting to enjoy Barcelona on a 4 day weekend.
