Firstly, Be wary of pick pockets, the first 5 minutes, we saw someone nearly get their back riffled through on the metro, I managed to alert the passenger, but the young kids come right up behind you in a group and riffle through your bags - be warned.

We stayed at the NH Belegua as part of our NCL Cruise, and stayed here for 2 nights. The Hotel is easily accessable via the underground metro system, although there are a few changes and long walks between changes, so if you have heavy luggage, get bus, or cab. The hotel itself is very clean, staff are friendly, and it is quiet centrally located. We love walking so walked to all the main sites to see. The breakfast has a great choice, usual fair with cold meats, fresh fruit, large selection of juices, tea and coffee and pastries. All in all a very good stay. The rooms are spacious and clean - all in all a great stay.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in September and found it to be a great little hotel in a nice residential location. Not in the centre but great location for the metro ( Fontana being the nearest stop). The staff were friendly but not overtly so, the rooms clean but not huge and the breakfast was great if you are happy with pastries, breads and cereals (which I am).Overall a great base for touring around the fab city of Barcelona.

Our family of three stayed at NH Belagua for one week in September 2011. Here is how I find this hotel:

Positive:
1. Close to city center (5 minutes walk to subway stations, from there 2 stops to the heart of town)
2. Good neighborhood - seemed safe, close to shops/cafes
3. Clean (towels and bed sheets were very clean; excellent daily cleaning service!)
4. Price was reasonable for 92 euros tax included per night for one room

Negative:
1. Mattress - our mattress was not particularly comfortable, it felt like there is a cut width wise in the middle of the mattress
2. Paying extra 10.5 euros per day for Internet in the room and extra 16 euros per person for breakfast

Note:
1. Breakfast is simple, not a large variety, yet enjoyable - 16 euros a day a bit too much, but you can book it in advance and get it for 8-10 euros per person
2. With north-American standards, rooms are small, for us the size was acceptable
3. Walls are thin, you will definitely hear your neighbors;) we didn't mind that
4. Staff are good - not too warm and welcoming but they do their job well
5. Although you have to pay an extra 10.5 for 24 hours of Internet in your room, the hotel offers a free half an hour Internet connection in the lobby

We had a certain budget for our trip; with the same budget, I would again stay at this hotel. If my budget improves I might find a better hotel.

We spent 7 nights in this hotel in August 2011.
Advantage:
location - close to the center, by train 2 stops to Placa Catalunya (about 6 minutes), lot of restaurants, for breakfest try Bocí or Bopan
price - about 60 eur/night
furniture - quite new
cleanliness
Disadvantage
quality of the wall - very thin, you can hear almost everything
door - very noisy when closing, especially when the staff was cleaning the room from 7a.m. and you want to sleep
wifi - for 10 eur/day, for free only 30 minutes a day in lobby
extension - 10 eur for one hour
noise from outside
safe deposit - was closed and very smelly
Overall the quality of sleeping was very bad (noise from other rooms, from outside and bcs of the doors)
staff - not very friendly
