This hotel was pretty good. We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2011 before a cruise.
The room was very clean, linen were fresh and we had inside view of the 'garden' which wasn't really that exciting. It didn't really matter as Barcelona is what we came to see. The bathroom was spacious and clean also. The room had a nice clock to connect an iPod and a Bang Olufsen television (I dont know what the fuss is about with Bang Olufsen, the TV quality, remote was poor). The room had a nook with a nice sofa for relaxing/reading.
The staff at the front desk were friendly, always acknowledging when I was coming or going. I didn't really need to interact with them beyond that.
This hotel allows you to start every day off with a nice walk, 20 mins to the top of Las Ramblas, 40 minutes to the piers. 45 minutes to 1 hour for Sagrada Familia. You do NOT have to walk to these locations as there is a metro station on the corner where the hotel is. We walked to most places and caught the train back. There is also a Gaudi house visible from the entrance to the hotel, 5 mins walk.
We didn't eat in the hotel and I got the impression that Spaniards don't do a hot breakfast. There are lots of nice places to eat in general though as you walk towards the city centre and a McDonalds 5 mins away (no hot breakfast menu when I went)...good for a coffee fix. I couldn't find a local place for bottled water and snacks but this seems like Barcelona in general, not many stores/kiosks in tourist areas like I am use to so I ended up having to walk to the department store 20 minutes away for snacks and drinks before it closed. All of the quick buy tourist stands were already closed after 9.
I would stay here again if I couldn't find another place.
