We inially booked an apartment at the FGA Bach for one night prior to our cruise. We flew in from California, which meant we were extremely tired (four women). First, the cab driver couldn't find the apartment, but it seemed none of the cab drivers in Barcelona knows where apartments are.
Upon arrival, there was absolutely no one there. The cab driver dropped us in front of what we hoped was the FGA Bach apartments. Imagine four women with luggage for a 13 day cruise. UGH! Anyway, we are standing in this alley with all of our luggage and really didn't know what to do. We had to flag our taxi down and ask him to call for the second time (the first was for directions) to find out what was going on.
We were told that there was a problem with the apartment and that they moved us. How were we to know this? Your guess is as good as mine. So our taxi driver reloaded us and our luggage and took us to the new location.
The apartment wasn't ready and there was no reception, so our taxi driver had to call for the third time to find out what were supposed to do. The cleaning lady came down, let us drop our luggage and told us that the apartment will be ready at 2:30 p.m. The four of us really had no place to go and were exhausted by the flights, but it was a little after 11:00 a.m. and we were starving. We walked around the area, which wasn't Las Ramblas as planned, until we found something to eat that wasn't tappas or paella.
Finally at 2:30 pm, we were able to get into the apartment. It was HUGE, clean, and very nice. It was a three bedroom, 2.5 bath with five beds, a large living room and outdoor patio in the back. There were plenty of little shops around, but most important we found a grocery store to buy soap for the bathrooms.
We really enjoyed the apartment after all of this, but the taxi rides were quite expensive as we were not near the port, Las Ramblas, or Catalunya. We were reimbursed for our taxi ride from the original apartment to the new one by the apartment manager.
The only other thing I can say about FGA Bach is that you have to check out at 11:00 a.m. We were seriously jet-lagged and really didn't appreciate the cleaning lady banging on the door at 10:55 a.m., rudely telling us we had to get out. Imagine FOUR women awaken out of our dead sleep having to rush to take showers and get all our crap together to get out of an apartment. I had to politely close the door on the cleaning lady because she was posted in the front door of the apartment waiting for us to get out.
So, I would recommend this apartment to anyone. Can't tell ya much about the original one.
