“Non-functioning shower and broken Internet overshadowed quiet location.”

We stayed in unit 51 for just an afternoon, but check out after finding that a couple of key features didn't work as promised and that the previous guests experienced the very same problems which had gone unresolved for 8 days.

One of the main selling points of the MH Apartments Gaudi for us was the free wireless Internet, which we required for our work. The Internet was not working when we arrived, and although the maintenance man was working on it with the service company that afternoon, it never worked correctly and MH was unable to tell us when it would be available. Furthermore, we discovered from the comment sheet left by the previous guests that their Internet service wasn't available for the entire 8 days they stayed there.

The shower hose and shower plumbing were both broken: The shower provided only scalding hot water (it was impossible to turn down the hot water and the control for the cold water was not functional), and to make matters worse the shower hose had a leak which sprayed the scalding water all over. The previous guests' comments indicated they had complained about this problem and that it remained unresolved during their 8 day stay.

Furthermore, in a strange feat of plumbing, the hot and cold controls for the shower were almost two meters high (over 6 feet) making it impossible for my wife to ever reach them.

The apartment was very clean and the neighborhood is quiet and pleasant, but we do not recommend MH Apartments Gaudi due to the poor maintenance issues and misleading promises about features such as wireless Internet.

“WARNING – INSECURE DO NOT STAY”

We were awoken at 1am with the noise of keys in our apartment door followed by the entry of a stranger. We challenged him and he told us that he was the maintenance man. There is no reception at these apartments so we couldn’t make contact with MH until the next morning. The office told us that it could have been the maintenance man, although what he was doing entering an apartment at 1am was beyond us. Further emails on our return explained that their computer system sometimes doesn’t function correctly so he came in as the apartment was showing unoccupied. Interestingly it’s the maintenance man himself who has been sending us emails and refuses to pass our concern to the management. Frankly this explanation isn’t good enough especially when travelling with young children. It ruined our stay and we were only too pleased to leave. As an aside we waited half an hour on our arrival to be let into the apartment whilst the “staff” serviced other guests. The wireless doesn’t work; the cleanliness is questionable. If you’re not happy once you arrive, “tough” is their attitude. Best not to go at all. A much better option would be the Citadines which is in the true heart of Barcelona on the Ramblas. Avoid MH Apartments at all costs!

“Brillant value for money - clean + great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

A great stay in a lovely area of Barelona - 5 mins walk from metro that gets you all over Barcelona also on same line as Nou Camp. Apartment was clean and well equipped, quiet neighbourhood and quiet in the apartment block itself.

“Cannot Recommend More Highly.”

... the title of this review should say it all, but in case it doesn't, let me repeat that our stay at the MH Apartments was fabulous. Our flat (the Gaudi) was immaculately clean, and had 2 spacious bedrooms, a great bathroom with a cyclonic force shower, and a well-appointed kitchen & living room. It was maybe 5 minutes by foot from the Sagara Familia, and bars & shops & grocery stores were a stone's throw away. With 3 of us staying there, it was far cheaper and much much nicer than a conventional hotel. Customer service was great from our arrival to leaving. I'd definitely go there again.
