“DO NOT PREPAY FOR THE ROOM THEN YOU CAN CHECK OUT EARLY, don't stay here if you actually want to sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

Very, noisy at night and I do mean all night! There are no insulated windows and the street noise is terrible. There is a building next door under construction and they work at night also. There are no washcloths, hand towels in the hotel at all. ( I asked the maid and the front desk clerk) I really expected this in a 3 star hotel.

EXTREMELY HOT WATER. in room 401 and it was hard to regulate. Just a shower no tub . The bar of soap was miniscule. Anyone with small children should be aware of potential scalding.

Breakfast buffet amounted to raw under cooked bacon and burned scrambled eggs for all 3 days I stayed there. We chose to eat breakfast elsewhere rather than risk getting sick from under cooked meat.

I wish I hadn't prepaid for the room on Eurobookings, I would of checked out of the room the first night. The desk clerk told me the owner and his partner own two hostels and are building a third close by. . I must admit I've had BETTER stays at hostels than this hotel. Definately overpriced. I would not stay here again.

“Amazing location, good value hotel, some blemishes”

I stayed at the Atlas for 2 nights and found it good value for money. I got there by car, and my Garmin gps wanted me to drive down the stairs from the Rambla to the hotel which you obviously can't do so I ended up parking in the underground parking at the Placa Catalunya at the end of the Rambla and bringing my luggage to the hotel from there. When I got there the WiFi wireless internet was down, and as it turned out it was down all the stay which was a major setback for me, as I partly chose the hotel for having WiFi. I got the room on 4.th floor (5th floor by American calculation) facing the street in front of the hotel, room 404. The photos are of that room. The location is amazing! Right next to the Rambla, just across from the Rambla is the Boqueria market and the Liceu subway station is right between on the Rambla. Tip: When shopping in the Boqueria, never buy from the stalls in the center walkway, you get considerably cheaper prices by going right or left a couple of aisles. I booked it without breakfast as I rarely get up in time for it so I can't talk about it, but you really don't want to get your breakfast there in any case, go into the narrow streets of the old Barcelona away from the Rambla and pick a little place there to have your breakfast, tapas and whatnot. All in all, if you can get a room at a decent price then it's a good choice for exploring Old Barcelona and the Ramblas area.

“Location cannot be beaten!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

The only thing excellent in this hotel is the location. Its just seconds away from the Ramblas. Rooms are adequately sized, but beds are terribly worn out and sagging. Bathrooms are nice and modern. The noise level can be distracting as people were going to and fro in the street, but hey its the Rambla area and its Spain! Breakfast is OK but if you are this near to La Boqueria, there is no excuse not to have fabulous breakfast or meals for that matter! I would probably stay here again given the chance.

“A short trip to Barcelona”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

Although the hotel was described as being within 10 minutes walk of the Liceu underground station, it was actually within 30 seconds walk! This is just what you need after a tiring journey. The hotel backed onto Las Ramblas so convenient for bars, cafes, getting around on the underground, buses or just walking. The hotel is only 2 years old, everything looked fairly new. Bathroom and bedroom looked modern. The only downside being very poor quality mattress. However after a long days sightseeing this didn't prevent me from sleeping!
Breakfast was more than satisfactory and all staff were friendly and helpful. Air conditioning in the rooms was well used in the summer heat.

“Perfect location”

We stayed here for a city break and the location was absolutely perfect, just off the main street .The hotel itself was pretty basic but good value for money and clean. Exactly what you want when there is so much to do in Barcelona!! One thing that did annoy was the beds, they were poos quality and 2 singles. Other than that would definitely recommend for a value for money hotel!
