“Great value and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

This was just a one night stopover on a road trip to southern Spain, and after a long ferry journey this was perfect. The reception staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The superior room was spacious with modern decor, comfy bed and a great bathroom/shower. Great that it also had a secure underground car park.
I cannot comment on any other of the hotel facilities as we arrived late in the day for just the one night, and chose to eat out in the town, which leads me to my only complaint about this hotel - the distance into the town. As this was our first night in Spain we wanted to try out some local tapas, but the streets around the lovely Plaza Mayor which is where the staff recommended was a good 30 minute walk (and the first 10 minutes was not a pleasant walk, especially at night time).
The hotel location is very convenient for access from the E80, but not if you want to be in the authentic area for tapas bars and restaurants.
€53 was excellent value and the hotel was a perfect choice for a comfortable nights stay.

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

A nice hotel overall. The breakfast buffet was very good. My main complaint was that the room was overheated, and the only way to cool it down was too open the window, which then let in a lot of street noise.

“A little disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We stayed in this hotel overnight as a place to relax between visiting castles in Castile-Leon. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was that it had a pool and my young daughter loves to swim. However, once we arrived at the hotel and got the kids all suited up, we went down to the pool and found it was locked. My husband asked about it at reception and was told that it was closed and not cleaned. He was given passes to the fitness center next door and told we could use the pool there. It was a very strange experience for us as we did not know the protocol for using the gym pool. Apparently they have a rule that swim caps must be worn in the pool, as we were expecting to swim in the hotel pool, we did not have swim caps. Luckily the lifeguard was able to lend us some. It was really nice that the gym allowed us to use their pool, but we definately felt out of place. It would have been nice if there were pool hours/dates available when we made our reservations, because if we had known the pool was closed, we would have searched for a hotel with an indoor pool or we would have left all of our pool stuff at home, considering the towels and the swimvest for my daughter take up quite a bit of packing space.
As for the room, the sofa bed had a cigarette burn on the cushion. The shower drained really slowly, so showers had to be quick to keep from overflowing the shower stall. You could tell this had happened many times because at the base of the bathroom door frame, they covered up the moldy wood with a piece of woodgrain sticker, which was now warped and peeling from getting wet. This was a real concern for me as I had a 10 month old crawling around and didn't want him messing with that. The carpets throughout the hote needed to be replaced as they were quite worn and stained.
That being said, the hotel staff was very friendly. Breakfast was really good for a Spanish breakfast buffet (if you have not experienced Spanish breakfasts, they are not the same as what you would get at American breakfast buffets). They had some hot meat, fruits, yogurt, pasteries, and cereals.

“Excellent Novotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We stayed for 3 nights in order to chill out after a tiring week of driving and it was perfect. The "superior" room was clean and modern with a lovely bathroom and at last Novotels have free Wifi throughout the hotel so you can lay in bed and surf the net to your hearts content!
Downstairs the lobby is a comfortable place to spend some time and the terrace and pool area are great places to unwind.
I wouldn't want anyone to think we did nothing! We went to Salamanca for the day (an easy 90 minute drive). Zamora and Leon would also be good day trips.
The restaurant is good and there is secure parking. At 54 Euro per night this was unbeatable value.

“Super Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

This hotel is perfectly located just a few kms off the motorway. We stayed here when travelling from S. Portugal to Santander and return. Hotel is a leisurely 2.5/3 hour drive from Santander. Secure parking (£4) and accepts animals (£5 per dog). Quiet location and rooms. Good breakfast. Dinner service slow when more than 6 or 8 guests in restaurant. McDonalds next door!!
