I recently stayed at the Hotel Atrio in Valladolid. For a four star hotel, I found my stay very unpleasant and the facilities were not up to standard.
I was in Valladolid for business and had to attend official events attended by the Mayor of valladolid over the weekend. I asked for an iron to prepare my clothes for the events but was told that they did not have any irons for guest use. Upon stressing the urgency of the matter once again I was met with typical Spanish customer service behaviour - and a disinterested look on the face of the receptionist like she couldn't care less. Bea, one thing you have to learn is that your customers ALWAYS come first! I was told this was very normal for hotels of this class. (Not that I have ever come across any where this basic amenity was not available) An ironing service was provided at an extra charge, but, conveniently, not at the time I required, there was noone available to iron my clothes until the next day.
The rooms were pretty nice and of a good size, the location is excellent, however the breakfast buffet was very poor, the choice was terrible and the breakfast room looked very depressing indeed - it is located in a basement with flourecent lighting.
In my minibar I found a used bottle of water which had been re-filled with tap water and the lid placed back on.
No access to the front of the hotel by car because of major road works, noisy and dusty from the caterpillars and diggers.
I would not recommend this hotel, there are much better ones for the same price.
