“To Boutique or Not To Boutique”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

A pleasant hotel, situated close to the park, but on a quiet road. The room was spacious, although the TV was a bit old fashioned. No real complaints overall, although I'd say that this isn't really what I'd think of as "boutique", more of a well appointed, quite large hotel.

Quite a classy bar with a nice courtyard.

Breakfast was good, if not particularly cheap.

“good hotel - would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

A great location opposite the Campo Grande and near the station. Accomodation very much as expected for a 4* hotel - everything done well. Would definitely go again. One downside is the parking - not cheap at 14 euros but on the plus side if you register for SolMelia's MAS card breakfast is half price!

“Beautiful hotel in a perfect location with service that goes above and beyond”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2010

Walking into their impressive lobby, we knew we were in for a treat. And we were--everything about our stay was exquisite. Beautifully-decorated, spacious room overlooking the park, a great lounge and outdoor area, even the stairways were impressive. The front desk staff recommended a paella restaurant across the street that we loved. When we accidentally left our camera behind, they took care of boxing it up and preparing it for pick up. It was a lot of work, but they handled it immediately and without any complaints. The area around the hotel is lovely, with beautiful peacocks and other birds in the park across the street, several walking streets nearby. We highly recommend the Melia--it lives up to its stars, and beyond!

“Very classy hotel, nicely located. I'd certainly return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

Two day trip to Valladolid, we'd booked the Melia Recoletos in advance on Tripadvisor's advice. It was full justified, the hotel was excellent.

The hotel had been recently renovated and it was decorated with class without being minimalist and retaining the character of the original building. We took a superior room which was worthwhile for some extra space. The staff were very friendly (special mention for the barman), the hotel is not entirely central but everything in Valladolid is located within a pleasant walking distance.

Wifi is not free, which is a minus (and always irritating), there is no gym. The hotel, however, is located across the road from a great park instead (bring your running shoes). The bar could be non-smoking (but nowhere in Valladolid is non-smoking). Breakfast was a little pricy but worthwhile. Valladolid in general was an extremely pleasant town.

The hotel certainly contributed to a lovely stay: firm bed and spacious room, tasteful decoration, large and comfortable bathroom, very clean. I'd recommend this to anyone and certainly return.

“Enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2009

We stayed for one night when we came to see Bruce Springsteen play at the football stadium.
The hotel was very nice. The people on the desk were helpful and the room we had (220) had a nice inner couryard view.
The only negative about the roomw as that it was a smoking one and it did smell as a result, especially when we woke up in the morning.
The bed was comfy and there was even a pillow menu! The shower was also lovely and powerful.
We only had one afternoon to enjoy the city, and the hotel is located right next to a huge park, which was full of peacocks. It was raining while we were there but I can imagine it is lovely on a sunny day. We don't speak Spanish and I am vegeatarian so we did struggle to find somewhere to eat as Valladolid doesn't really cater for foreign visitors (we only saw one place that had a menu in French, German and English). We ended up at a restaurant to the left of the town hall (cannot remember it's name but you walk across the exit to the car park and it is the second building on the right, you go down some steps to enter it). They did 2 course for 15 euros or 3 courses for 16 euros. It was very popular and the food was lovely.
There was a huge choice of food for breakfast, though the grill for toast seemed to take an age. Everything we ate was very tasty, especially the chocolate torte!
We would definitely stay here again if we went back to Valladolid, but I think this is unlikely as there wasn't really that much to do there.
