“A disappointment on several front”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

The WIFI connection was lousy, breakfast was overcrowded and below par, several builders were banging away within my floor at 8:30 am and the rooms were old-fashioned and in need of a serious facelift.

Sorry to sound so negative, but this is without doubt the worst 4* hotel in the beautiful city of Valladolid. I should know: I've been to most of them.

“Well situated, nice breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

I went several times to Melia Olid in Valladolid for my work.

Hotel is really well situated, in the center of the city, people at reception are polite and willing to help you if needed. The breakfast is better than average with a choice of sweet and salty food, and a fresh orange juice !

Some little bad points : parking is quite expensive for the night, rooms are a bit small, and deco is a bit old fashioned.

“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2011

We were in Room 207. It was a big, beautiful room with comfortable bed and pillows and luxurious bedding and a flat screen tv. The bathroom was even better - huge with marble floors and walls. Restaurant had excellent food - try the fresh squeezed orange juice. Wish we could have stayed here longer.

“Looks nice, but too hot and noisy to sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

Stayed in the Olid Melia for three nights during a conference. I usually sleep well but really struggled to sleep on any of the nights as the street outside the hotel was extremely noisy with drunk people walking between bars and nightclubs until at least 4.30AM. The airconditioning didn't work (instead blowing hot air) and the hotel was overheated so had to have the window open at night as well. Other people on my floor had the same problem with the airconditioning, it wasn't just my room.

What's more, the walls were thin (so I could hear phone calls and TV from adjoining rooms) and the pillow was extremely uncomfortable.

It's a real shame as the hotel is well furnished and the communal areas are impressive - thick carpets, marble stairs etc. Breakfast was good, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. Free fast wireless internet available.

“Dynasty reloaded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2010

Just returning from a business trip from Valladolid. Our client booked us into this hotel and i liked it.The location for us was perfect.Teatro Calderon is just around the corner.Plaza Mayor is a ten minute walk.I was on the 4th floor. The room, lobby and the whole experience is a bit like visiting Alexis Carrington Colby and Dex Dexter.Thick carpets, marble bathrooms, brass elevator doors. You could describe it as dated, but in good and clean condition. The staff from reception was helpfull, but sometimes spanish was the only spoken language, making communication difficult. When it comes to things like:printing out emails my spanish is limited. When i had problems with my internet connection someone came up within 2 minutes and fixed it.My stay was during the week and because breakfast was not included we happily had breakfast just across the street.15 € for breakfast in the Hotel Olid i find in Spain is a bit exagerated.I will come back to this hotel in march and i am looking forward to it!Still hope to meet Blake and Christel in the lobby.
