seen from the outside this Parador is a modern, dull building that looks more like a hospital, in a dull suburb outisde the old city... But it boasts fantastic views over the city, as it's set on top of a small hill across the river.
Inside, the premises are finely decorated, with light warm colours, in classical-yet-minimal furniture. As you face the reception desk one's shocked by the view of the old town towers and domes behind the recepcionists. It's not a 3D wide-screen projection. It's real life, with the old cathedrals as the main characters.

Try to get a room with a view. This is the main reason for choosing the Parador instead of other hotels i the city centre.

The rooms are spotless, really big, very well equipped,with very comfortable beds, a big flat-screen TV set and best of all, a wide, big window facing beautiful old Salamanca. and Big, spotless bathrooms with Hydromassage tub.

Salamanca is a medium-sized town. There's no need to take the car for visiting the old city.The old Cathedral is a mere 15 minutes' walk from the Parador and you need no more than 10 minutes to reach the old roman bridge. A taxi from Plaza Mayor will charge no more than 6 Euros for a ride. Parking is free in the premises of the Parador. This is a fine option if you travel by car, given that the old town is almost car-free and parking is quite expensive in town.

This Parador is not the best in terms of architecture but the rooms are quite nice, modern, clean, with beautiful views and confortable beds. The Parador is very convenient located to walk to the old town and visit all the landmarks.
The staff was very friendly, from the reception counter, to the waitresses. Special mention to the breakfast. Excellent food and real jabugo Ham , which is -as Spaniard myself- really appreciated. In general I recommend this parador to visit the area and just to stay 2 nights and heading to the next Parador , for instance , in Zamora.

Booked a special offer room (Golden Days) for two days which was a mistake as clearly with this offer the rooms are not the best. This is a modern brutalist style building on a hill,in stark contrast to the old town which it overlooks. Unfortunately we didnt have a view as our room was at the rear and immediately over the noisy ?boiler rooms/kitchen extractors of the hotel. The room was spacious with good aircon etc but the bedside light fitting was broken and the safe didnt work - unusual lack of attention to detail in Parador. On the plus side there is the usual superb Parador breakfast and lovely dining room and bar terrace with views and nice gardens. As it's out of centre you have parking, a quiet night's sleep and swimming pool, but if you want room with view pay extra. Bear in mind that it is a good 15/20min walk into town and up hill on way back which can be tiring twice a day in heat! If you can find the bus stop across the road the No9 runs into centre every 20mins -1E.

Comfortable start to our trip round Spain. Refreshing swim in pool. Super view of City. There were 2 weddings on Saturday when arrived so pretty busy but we were looked after well and had relaxed and enjoyable meal in restaurant. Waitress friendly and engaging with children. We left luggage with hotel in morning and walked into City over Roman bridge. City has to be said is lovely. If you like architecture climb up Cathedral tower and you great views on rooftop and into cathedral. So much to see and enjoy. Stumbled on to family run restaurant outside Plaza Mayor where we enjoyed friendly family run restaurant offering simple great food at reasonable price, unlike beer with surly waiter in Plaza Mayor.
