“Good overnight central hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2007

Silken is a well managed chain in Spain catering for the business traveller mainly. This hotel is sneaked into a fairly quiet area and looks and feels a bit 'dated' however the rooms although small are perfectly adequate for an over nighter. As is often the case in Spanish hotels, the dividing walls are not too thick and some neighbour noise was temporarily annoying. The hotel is close to the Plaza Mayor and the shopping street and so we felt that position was excellent. The garage across the road was fine. The key was handed over in exchange for a detailed ticket showing car registration etc and a lower rate available as guests of hotel. The breakfast room was fine with no complaints at all.

“Good Clean Chain Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2006

After travelling through spain and staying at some nasty hotels, it was so nice to eventually stay at a decent hotel.

The hotel can be a bit tricky to find as it seems to tucked away down a small street but there is a parking about 1 minute walk away. You have to hand them your keys though and let them know in advance when you want your car.

The reception was clean with a small bar, the rooms were really nice and clean. I was very impressed for the price, this could have been a 5 star room in london. The hotel rooms have everything you need and get in 5 star hotels. Shampoo, Soap, After Shave, Shaving Kit, Toothbrush, comb etc etc.

I know some people complained about noise here but i found this not to be the case. In fact there is a pub (one of those fake Irish ones) just across the road, i went there for a couple of beers. Too many students for my liking but a nice way to end the day!

  • Liked — Modern Rooms with nice toilettres
  • Disliked — not many people..
  • Tips/Secrets — you can get pints across the road.

“Good value, great location.”

Road access was tricky and the private garage (Euros 10) was accross the road. But because there was restricted access to the roads around, it was very quiet. The location for visiting the sights could hardly be better and as a result we did not eat in the Hotel. The room was of good standard and the bed very comfortable. Overall it was very good value.

  • Liked — Central location
  • Disliked — 6 euros for an intenet card but they did provide a terminal

“Fantastic value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2006

I too was nervous at staying at this hotel & thought the price must have been wrong at £150 for four nights! The hotel: is in a great location & it only takes a few minutes to walk to the main centre, was very clean & well maintained, the staff were very helpful & had great local knowledge & spoke very good english. I would recommend anyone to visit Salamanca, the buidlings, wine & food were excellent & the people very friendly, do take a phrase book if you cant speak Spanish, not much english is spoken. Obtain information from the tourist office on the opening hours of each building as they do not stay open all day & they are sights not to be missed, even look in the ones which are not quoted, you will find some hidden gems. Look out for local festivals, we were lucky & one was on during our stay, the parades, costumes, markets were super... We flew into Madrid & took the 2.5 hour train ride to Salamanca, 15euro each way. Salamanca is a must...

“Quaint hotel, quiet street, close walking distance to sights of Salamanca”

This hotel is in a quiet location but easy walking to all the sites of Salamanca. The staff were helpful and there were good walking maps available.

The food at the hotel was more than adequate and we enjoyed our stay.

I'd stay here again if visiting Salamanca.
