We tried to be flexible with our driving holidays and as such we did not pre-book a hotel in Salamanca..our first stop was the rather grand Presidente Hotel...they had lots of rooms, but she almost fainted when I asked for a discount on the 160.00 euro rate ( I needed 2 rooms because Spain has never heard of families of 2adults 2 children travelling together)
So we ended up driving around rather aimlessly looking for a hotel that had a car park..
This hotel was it...they offered us a rate of 105.00 euros with bfast and free internet, it was decorated ok, nothing flash...similar to a Holiday Inn express in the US..
The pool was Green but still 2 real live ducks found it appealing..(too cold to swim anyway)
Bfast was good, UNTIL we were about to leave..a rather large and bossy women appeared out of no where and tried to give us a bill...(although none of the other ALL Spanish) guests had been given one..she was adamant that we pay..I referred her to reception and she returned and gave me a dirty look..if you stay in Salamanca pre-book and stay somewhere closer to town give this one a miss.
