When we checked into our room it hadn't been cleaned properly, the carpet didnt look like it had seen a vacum cleaner in a week! the mirrored wardrobes were full of finger prints, there were dirty tissues under the bed and even a shopping receipt at the end of the bed, even worse on closer inspection after pulling back the bed covers there were black hairs all over the pillow and on the sheets!! Eeek!! when we complained they were very apologetic and moved us to a tiny double room but it was the only remaining room left as the hotel was full, they did promise that the following morning we would be put into a nice room!!
True to their word we were moved to a lovely big room with a jacuzzi bath that made up for the initial disappointment..
The hotel is in a good position as it is just a nice walk across the bridge into Salamanca in the day and again in the evening, abit of a steep climb up into the centre but not a problem at all!!
We chose the hotel also because it had a pool but it doesnt actually get the sun for very long on the pool area due to the position of it within the walls of the hotel, hence the pool was rather cool even in August!!
We didnt eat at the hotel nor did we have breakfast there, we thought there would be alittle bar or shop etc but unfortuntaley there are no facilities around the hotel.
Salamanca itself is very pretty and we would recommend a visit, we found it to be reasonably priced for food and drink compared to Madrid prices, we got the train from Charmartin station in Madrid to Salamanca of which was incredibly easy and took approx 2&1//2 hours..
Room Tip: All rooms have a balconey but the top floor have a great view of the city!
