This is a hotel with some real character, located in a beautiful 16th century building that was originally a monastery. The hotel has been decorated with antique furniture and paintings in the common areas. The rooms keep up the theme, with pseudo-medieval hangings behind the bed for example. The rooms are not medieval in that they are comfortable and reasonably large. The hotel has a good business centre with about 5 computers and other equipment, and there is wifi throughout. Staff were extremely helpful when I was there. I arrived very late (around 1 in the morning) due to travel issues, and there was a problem with the booking, but it was all sorted out very efficiently and courteously.
The area around the hotel is rather less attractive, but there are a number of decent bars and you can go and watch the old men play traditional games on the riverbank, which is quite fun. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Railway centre and a similar distance to the historical centre of the town. It is round the corner from the regional government of Castille and Leon, so very convenient if you have any business there.
