“Food Poisoning”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

First time at this Hotel in Burgos and last. My wife got food poisoning after eating the veal. I was OK as I had the duck (which was under cooked even though I asked for it well done). Staff not interested and had to stay another night because my wife was unfit to move. Very noisy at night possible due to having to leave the window open because the aircon does not work. Also, ate alive in bed, hygene suspect, and therefore did not get a good nights sleep. All in all, would not recommend Abba Burgos.

“Does what it says on the tin!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2011

This the 5th time we have stayed at the Abba. It is always a welcome stay in Burgos. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms are clean and well-appointed. The beds are large and comfortable and we always get a good nights sleep. We were a little dissapointed that the restaurant was closed in December, . Neverthelass, we had a good and reasonably priced meal provided by room service. There was an issue with the internet connection and we thought it expensive for an hours use. Also, the garage is very expensive, considering there is no other option. However, on balance the rooms are reasonably priced so we were happy to pay the extras.

“Beware Spannish Festa Days”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

Having stayed at the hotel on our travel down to Portugal and found it excellent we reserved rooms for the return journey. We arrived 8ish in the evening after a long drive from Lisbon and had planned a quick change and to their restaurant for a meal to finish our holiday. On arrival at the restaurant we found it closed. No mention was made of this on booking or checking in. The town was heaving with all places packed. We wrote about our displeasure as we felt we were paying for a 5 star hotel with 3 star amenities and we should have been informed when booking. We eventually had a reply saying that it states in the rooms that the restaurant would be closed on Festa days. We then pointed out that one was not to know that before actually checking in and getting to the room !!! To add insult to injury they actually charged us more on the second visit as we hadn't booked on the internet. We also pointed out that when booking it was extremely unlikely that anyone other than a local Spaniard would actually know the dates of Festa days. The second letter has been ignored so be warned!!! It is a shame as apart from this problem of no food it is a very nice hotel.

“Fantastic location, great value hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

Now, the first thing I will say is that the pricing is a little like Ryanair. Parking was in excess of €20 for the night, although if you can find space on the road that will be free. Breakfast was I think €16 each which we didn't take. On the up-side, the pool is indoor and heated, although the changing facilities are woefully inadequate.

I think that sounds rather unfair. The hotel is modern and clean, and the room we had was comfortable with a view towards the city. It was good value for a city-centre hotel and quite an architectural delight.

“Car damaged in Abba hotel secure car park”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

This was the 4th time we stayed at this hotel over the last few years. I've always been happy with the hotel and the service but this year that changed. I parked my car in the hotels secure car park. When I came out to retrieve my car the following morning I noticed a key scratch along the drivers side of my black car. Somebody had run a key along my door damaging my new car. The damage will now cost me about £1000.00 to repair. When I complained to the management I was told that they were not responsible and they couldn't believe that a customer of the hotel would do such a thing. The damage was quite extensive and for this reason I will never stay in an Abba Hotel again. The management were very unhelpful. Don't stay in this hotel as it might happen to you........
