“Good Location, Excellent Restaurant, Helpful Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2011

Recently, we spent three nights at this hotel. It has a very convenient location, very close to the historical center and the bus station, with most of the important sites within walking distance. The rooms are clean if somewhat dated, the decor is sort of special with lots of art pieces and antiques, and the staff was always very friendly and helpful. We also liked the breakfast buffet with lots of good ingredients and even fresh salmon everyday.

By far, the most enjoyable part of our stay was a meal we had at the restaurant which was just excellent. We had the menu of the day and we found it very good, all the food was very well prepared, the service very refined, and the wine served was one of the best we had in all our trip. Surprisingly, the day of our meal, very few people were eating. You also get a discount if you are a guest.

This hotel seems to be preferred by groups of tourist, so be prepared for lots of people moving in and out of the hotel early in the morning and on the evening. Nevertheless there was never any problem with noise.

However, the TVs in the room need to be changed. Nowadays most hotels have modern TV sets and good cable signals with sophisticated controls. This hotel has a very complicated and ancient TV-Cable combination, that is akward, antiquated, and bad in general. This was the only aspect we did not like in an otherwise very pleasant experience.

“Helpful Staff- Very nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

This hotel is in a good location across the river from the Cathedral. Staff were very helpful and served a decent breakfast. Rooms are massive, clean and nicely furnished. Mirrored walls in the bathrooms are certainly unique but overall a great place to stay

“A great buy wonderful breakfast and a bargain lunch and/or dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2008

I liked this hotel. True it has many antiques all over which makes decoration a little over burden. Rooms are not big but reasonable. Location is excellent. We walked to many places. We paid only 69 euros for two with breakfast and it was really a wonderful buffet breakfast . What was a real bargain was lunch or dinner. A good cuisine, the daily meny was really delicious and included a good wine from Toro and mineral water it was only 12 euros a real bargain. The matter in fact eating tapas from the bar in the same hotel turned out to be less of a good deal. We had a very nice time in a city we love to visit, the personel was very helpful.

“Good hotel, but best ones in the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2007

I've been traveling in Burgos several times and i've hosted in this hotel recently.

It is a good 3 star hotel, but according to the TRYP-MELIÁ level, is an inferior one.

The room is a bit small, the bathroom wasn't something special and the building itself is not great (and in this city the historical builidings are par tout)

It is really near from bus station and just crossing the river you have the main tourist attractions. The main companies are not far also.

Well: its a good option but nothing special. I would only reccomend it because it is slightly cheaper than other similar ones (60-65 euro).

  • Liked — It is the nearest hotel to bus station
  • Disliked — Nothing special: it is very insipid but not uncomfortable

“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2006

We stayed in Burgos one night, mainly to see the Cathedral. The Fernan Gonzalez is clean, well situated, and reasonably priced.
