The hotel was nice:
Good things: reasonable size room, right next the escalators to the old town (this is important, even though it sounds silly), quiet at night, very helpful staff with medium english, almost free parking on the street and the guy from the hotel used his car to keep a parking free for us when we asked, out of the old town, so if you don't have to get your car in narrow streets, all around good value

Bad things: lousy breakfast, weird shower (but big and new bathroom), the view from the room is not so great, no English channels on TV
Definitely recommend.

The hotel lies on the northern slopes of the town, below the centre but high enough to afford views over the river plain to the north. Our room was clean and warm, with cheap furniture and an uncomfortable bed with one of those anti-stain, sweaty mattress covers beloved of cheap hotels. It is more typical of a good quality Spanish hostel than a hotel. During the same trip we stayed more cheaply in far nicer hotels in both Seville and Cordoba, so not good value for money. It is important to know exactly where it is, otherwise you can end up wandering up and down steep roads to no avail: there are no signs to help you. If not arriving by taxi or car, take a bus from the rail station to Plaza Zocodovar (first stop after the long climb uphill -most people get off here). Then retrace the bus route for a few 100m to find the first of 4 mechanical escalators which descend to a car park - take the first escalator, turn right and take the second and third escalators (but not the last one) and turn left to emerge at a road junction. Cross the road, turn left and the hotel is a short distance to your right. Once you know this route it is easy and short to return to the town centre. Would I stay here again? No. The guy in reception was unfriendly and the price nothing special for the quality received: there are plenty of other places in Toledo.
