Just off Plaza Zocodover, Pension Castilla is located up a tiny, quiet alley. Expect to speak at least basic Spanish with the reserved, rather than warm, couple who own the pension; they're on duty to open the door for guests until midnight or so. I stayed in a double-bed room discounted since I was a solo traveller; I paid 22 Euros. The room was simplicity itself; white walls, wood floor, ceiling fan; bed, table, chair, clothes hooks. The WC in the hall had a bath/shower and toilet; I'm not sure how many of the several rooms on that floor were en-suite, but I never had to wait for the bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy. I did notice that an amazing amount of noise was produced when people walked down the clattery hallway. The owner let me leave my bag with her for several hours after I checked out. I wasn't expecting luxury, and I was satisfied with my stay.
