“Paper thin walls”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2009

Normally I don't care if I can hear other people walking in the halls, but this hotel had the thinnest walls ever. When someone took a shower in the next hotel room, it sounded like it was raining in my room. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking there was a massive leak in my room, but it was just someone running their water tab. The hotel overall has an appearance of being an average hotel, but it really is a budget hotel. The price is just too high for what you get. The only positive was the rooms were hugh for European standards.

“Basic Hotel in Old Toledo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2009

We stayed at Hotel Las Conchas for 1 night. The room was quite large by european standards but nothing special.

The staff was slow, and in general did not speak English.

In the room our window cover would not go back up all the way so we had to settle with only having a small amount of natural light.

The breakfast was adequate, the coffee was terrible.

“Excellent Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2009

Our hotel was in a very good location- only 100 meters from the Alcazar and 200 meters from the main square. The room was spotless and had a good sized bathroom and even looked out at a little courtyard. (The Alcazar has been closed for 7 or 8 years and is hoping to open in November. El Greco's house was also closed for repairs.) I recommend this hotel. It was plenty large for our family of four. No refrigerator or other special amenities.

“A nice hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2006

We stayed at this hotel on Nov 19 - 20, 2006. We chose it because it was convenient to the school where our daughter went.

The hotel has a very good location; close to the center of Old Toledo where everything is a walking distance.

The room we were in was clean but noisy and we had the worst view.. our window overlooked at another window and the was no air circulation. So it got a bit stuffy in our roon.

The people were very nice and accomodating though.

When we came back to Toledo after spending a couple of days in Barcelona, we decided to stay at Hotel Carlos V which is around the corner from Hostal Las Conchas. It is a little bit more expensive but it was a lot nicer and it included a nice breakfast.

If you're in a tight budget, Hostal Las Conchas will do.

“Would recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2006

We stayed at Las Conchas in 2004 (I'm a little late with my review) and we were pleased with the hotel and the staff. The hotel looks new and the hallways and floors are marble. It is NOT your typical mid-range European hotel, by any means.

The location was great - - we could easily walk anywhere in the old section of Toledo.

Our only complaint was that we had a terrace which looked upon nothing but ugly rooftops (the hotel is squished in between older buildings) and was dirty with dead bugs and droppings. It was a large terrace and it would have been nice to sit there and have coffee in the morning - - had there been chairs and no debris.

We arrived by taxi from the bus station and it think it would be VERY difficult to find the hotel on your own.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel Las Conchas. (This hotel is recommended by Rich Steves, by the way.)

  • Liked — Large room, location
  • Disliked — Terrace that we couldn't use
  • Tips/Secrets — They might suggest paying in US dollars rather than euro. Don't do it. Their exchange rate will be very high! (We fell for it, sadly.)
