“Charming, good value hotel, shame about the paper thin walls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

This is a charming, typically Spanish hotel. Although it is on a busy and noisy street, once you leave the foyer the traffic noise goes completely - to be replaced by another which I'll come to. The location is fine, 20 minutes walk from the station with it's high speed train service to Madrid (30 minutes) and about five minutes from the centre of Toledo itself. You won't get much better than this.
The room rate was excellent and cheap enough that I could afford two rooms so our teenage daughter (and us) had a bit of privacy.
The hotel staff were very friendly and had a decent amount of English which made life much easier as I know about three words of Spanish. The hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere. The views from the two bedrooms I took were virtually non-existant but you'd stay here for the location rather than the view. If you want a view see my review of the Abaceria. Everything worked just fine in the bedroom, clean linen etc. etc.
There wasn't much available in the way of catering, there is an adjoining cafe/bar which you can access through the hotel. It did a good value breakfast of coffee and toast but the full buffet breakfast didn't look very good value though to be fair we didn't take it.
So finally to the major, major down side of this otherwise really good hotel. The walls between bedrooms are paper thin. We lay in bed each night listening to our neighbours TV, word for word. Then all of their conversation which luckily for them was in a Spanish. Then the sound of them brushing their teeth. Then other noises best left to the imagination. It was sufficiently bad that it would make me think long and hard about staying here again, the last thing you want after a day of sightseeing is lying in bed at half past mid-night listening to someone watching a movie - they might as well have been in the same room. Although I would recommend this hotel to a friend, it would be heavily caveated with a warning about the noise.

“Close to the center but not a pleasent place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

If you are short in time and must have quick access to the city center it might be an appropriate solution.
Personally, I didn't like the place.
The room was small, the T.V was tiny, The bed was awful, The air condition was weak.
They have a free WI-FI access point at the lobby.
They also have parking for payment (Generous, Are they not?) but we managed to find a close parking up the street where you can park at the weekend.

“Delightful for its purpose”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2009

We were more than happy with our experience. The location is on the edge of the old town's best attractions. Be prepared in any case for Toledo's hilly old town, and more so for the narrow streets. Indeed, if you are hoping to get a park at the hotel's carpark, you need to be hiring a Smart FourTwo or smaller... crazy small! A very decent reception from the... err, reception! You could do much worse. Pleasant rooms, with some atmosphere.

“'Real' Good with limitations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2009

Stayed here between 1 - 4 April over a lovely sunny weekend.
Hotel lies on a very busy street, but we were located at the rear and it was very quiet and restfull. Service is friendly and efficient. Rooms seem quite small but adequate and have little or no views - but then we only use them for sleeping. TV is tiny and have few programmes - none in English but again we are in holiday mode.
Restaurant is cheerful enough but breakfast was simple continental - adequate but nothing special. Evening meal menu was OK but again limited.
Excellent location within the city walls, and most tourist attractions within walking distance -but it is fairly hilly and not for the infirm. Great for exploring the narrow alleys and as safe as you will find anywhere.
Toledo is worth a good two days to appreciate it, and the cathedral is a must see.
There is garage parking for those who need it - but I would not like to drive the ultra narrow back roads to access it. It also seems that 90% of locally registed vehicles have scrapes down the sides due to the very narrow streets.

“True 3 star hotel, but beware of parking if you drive a large car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2009

The hotel is in a good location, rooms are very clean, and true to a 3-star hotel. The reception desk staff was very nice, service was good. We had a triple room facing the street - no noise issues though, and a nice view. However, parking is impossible unless you have a car smaller than a VW Golf. The cafe-restaurant on-site is OK if you don't want to walk-up the hill where the rest of the restaurants are. We stayed for a night and enjoyed Toledo a lot.
