This is a charming, typically Spanish hotel. Although it is on a busy and noisy street, once you leave the foyer the traffic noise goes completely - to be replaced by another which I'll come to. The location is fine, 20 minutes walk from the station with it's high speed train service to Madrid (30 minutes) and about five minutes from the centre of Toledo itself. You won't get much better than this.
The room rate was excellent and cheap enough that I could afford two rooms so our teenage daughter (and us) had a bit of privacy.
The hotel staff were very friendly and had a decent amount of English which made life much easier as I know about three words of Spanish. The hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere. The views from the two bedrooms I took were virtually non-existant but you'd stay here for the location rather than the view. If you want a view see my review of the Abaceria. Everything worked just fine in the bedroom, clean linen etc. etc.
There wasn't much available in the way of catering, there is an adjoining cafe/bar which you can access through the hotel. It did a good value breakfast of coffee and toast but the full buffet breakfast didn't look very good value though to be fair we didn't take it.
So finally to the major, major down side of this otherwise really good hotel. The walls between bedrooms are paper thin. We lay in bed each night listening to our neighbours TV, word for word. Then all of their conversation which luckily for them was in a Spanish. Then the sound of them brushing their teeth. Then other noises best left to the imagination. It was sufficiently bad that it would make me think long and hard about staying here again, the last thing you want after a day of sightseeing is lying in bed at half past mid-night listening to someone watching a movie - they might as well have been in the same room. Although I would recommend this hotel to a friend, it would be heavily caveated with a warning about the noise.
