“Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2009

I always read trip advisor reviews before picking a hotel but unfortunately in Toledo I didn't have time and boy did I live to regret it. Our luggage was delayed from the Madrid airport and we needed to call to find out the status. Issue 1: We asked at the front desk how much it cost to call Madrid. The man checking us in said no cost. We asked him three times in English and with our guidebook Spanish, he clearly stated "Madrid calls free no problem use your room phone and call its free" When we checked out we were charged over 20 euros for our calls and the manager refused to waive it. Issue 2: The air conditioner in our room was on the fritz. We asked them to look at it. They insisted it was fine if you stood right by the vent. I told her that the rest of the room is burning but for that one spot, she told me that this is how air conitioning is in Spain. I can tell you I've stayed at other hotels in spain and Spain has air conditioners that work. Issue 3: The noise. We checked in at 1 and someone was hammering away very very loudly in the hotel room.
We were jet lagged and looking for a good nap. The noise did not end until 4pm, and the next morning resumed at 11am. Also, the street is a main road and we heard chatter and the sound of every car that drove by. Also the walls must be made of paper because we could hear Everthing.

I gain a lot of value from trip advisor reviewers and wanted to share my two cents so you do not have to waste your money and peace of mind at a place like this.

“Unwelcome welcome”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2009

This is a hotel which appears to be right in close to town, but is in actual fact a 10 minute work away from the main area. All of it uphill. The upside is that a taxi only costs Euros 5 to get to Plaza Zocodover, a useful reference and jumping-off point for your day. We had booked this hotel because it included parking in the deal. We have a large 4x4 and did not even want to attempt to drive in the doorway of the underground carpark as it was so narrow. The upside is that we arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the hotel is surrounded by "blue zone" parking spots which do not need to be paid for until Monday morning. The front desk staff welcome was very cool and they did not offer us a map - but they did provide one for free when asked. We specifically asked for a double and a twin, non-smoking. No such thing in this hotel, but they had not emailed us to say so. All beds are singles pushed together. The heating system was LOUD and the staff did not care when we told them they needed to bleed the system as the air made such a knocking sound as to disturb sleep. Sleep was impossible anyway as our room overlooked the main road which is busy. Even at 5am on a Sunday morning. Toiletries dull but adequate. Towels large but scratchy. Cannot comment on the food as we chose to eat elsewhere - a warmer welcome is easily found. Corridors are tiled and wheeled suitcases make LOTS of noise.

“Never again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2007

Location near (but not in) the city is convenient. The common areas of the hotel are nicely decorated. The front desk staff is pleasant. We booked two rooms for a family of four. Both were small and basic (two twin beds), but based on the floor plan of the hotel, we had the smallest two rooms in the hotel (I think we were in 105 and 106). One had black mold growing on the ceiling, probably from a water leak since there were also large water stains. Unfortunately, we had a terrible time getting any sleep in this hotel. The rooms are not well sound-proofed. I could clearly hear the TVs and conversations in other rooms. At midnight, a group came down the hallway with rolling luggage bags...across that tile floor...and poorly sound-proofed rooms. The AC/heat system was completely shut down, so I couldn't even turn on the fan to mute out some of the noise. Getting enough sleep is important to me, so I would not stay there again.

“Honest European Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2007

Located just a few minutes walk from the gate of Toledo's wall, it was quiet at night. (If you can't walk a lot, there was a bus to take up to Plaza Zocodover. )

The hotel was clean, comfortable, the staff was always friendly and helpful to us. It is a standard European hotel; tile flooring, bidet, room boxes in which you leave your key when you are out. Our room's balcony overlooked the bullring and had a beautiful view of the distant mountains also. Although our room had two twin beds, they were pushed together and my husband and I slept very well. (The upside--No stealing the covers!)
The included breakfast was more than adequate and there were choices for every taste. It is also convenient to the metro bus service on which you can travel to and from the RENFE train station.

I will definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone..

“Nice location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2007

The hotel is in a pretty good location, but it is NOT in the center of the city. It is necessary to walk 3-4 minutes from the hotel and you are at one of the doors "puertas" (Puerta Nueva de Bisagra) of the city. From there, about a 10 walk to the Plaza de Zocodover, which is the center of the town. The only complaint that I had about the hotel was that we were given a room in which someone had recently been smoking and the odor was incredibly strong. I went down to the front desk to ask to change and was told that all rooms were nonsmoking(even though in our room there was an ashtray?!?!?!?!?!) so they should all smell the same???? It was a bit weird really. In the end, we just left the window open and things were fine that night

  • Liked — The price (50 euros a night)
  • Disliked — The smoking odor in the room.
