Stayed at the hotel recently, having booked a cheap late autumn break in northern Spain.
The hotel was good. The decor in some of the public areas was "unusual" to be honest - elephants head rearing out of the wall etc. BUT the hotel itself was very good. We got a big suite - plenty of room and in excellent condition, with a good size balcony and a side sea view.
The hotel offer free use of the sports centre next door - well worth a visit. And whilst the hotel is on the edge of the main hotel area, and nestled amongt residential apartments, it was perfectly good. Plenty of buses into town etc.

Terrible Hotel in a terrible location. We actually cancelled our reservation and went to El Real. More of a 1 star then a 4 star. Hotel is in cement city, 3+ blocks from the beach and surrounded by ugly big buildings and no grass. Amenities not in hotel, but in a sports arena with 100s of kids. Not a place to go and relax and enjoy. Terrace overlooked a very busy road and covered with birds. ugly. We walked in with our luggage, and no one greeted us or asked to help us or anything. Stood there for over 5 minutes. Never even saw our room, just knew we would not stay there. Outside of building in desparate need of paint, and the inside in need of renovation. Hallways were small and carpet stained and ripped. Reminding me of an American motel, not a 4 star hotel.

Have just spent two days at the hotel where I found the quality of the accomodation excellent. It is very close to the beach but a long walk to the city centre although there is ample public transport close by. If you enjoy walking it is along the shoreline all the way past some pleasant gardens and parks. I found it disappointing that dinner service did not begin until 21.00 hours which I found too late. The TV had only one channel in english which was a business channel. Breakfast at 10euros what quite expensive but the choice was good.You could however get tea/coffee and a pastry in the cafeteria for much less. The reception staff were excellent and spoke good english. Outside resturants giving english translation of menus were few and far between. The somewhat stark concrete exterior hides a very well decorated interior.

The location of this hotel is "interesting" as it is across the street from the "football" (soccer) stadium. My Mother and I visited in early October 2004 and spent 4 nights at this hotel. We didn't realize that the football game was going to be played there on Sunday and the area was mobbed for 4 hours!!!

Because they were "going to be full," when we checked-in, the hotel gave us a room on the first floor which wasn't ideal. Here we are close to the ocean and wanted to leave the sliding doors open but couldn't as anybody could walk right in!!! The hotel did offer to change our room after the first 2 nights but we had already settled in and it would have been more hassle than it was worth.

The buffet was decent but fairly costly. Fresh fruit, yogurt along with the assortment of meats, cheeses and bread. They always had fresh apples or bananas which was nice. Multiple coffee and juice options.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and accomodating and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.

The "fun" part of this hotel were the guests who were occupying the hotel -- the visiting soccer team! My Mother and I enjoyed getting into the small "lifts" with these young handsome guys.
