A great Hotel, modern chic and wonderful views of the beach, coast , and islands. All new marble bathroom, (and all the soaps /shampoos!!) Booked online, such good value for an Hotel of this quality. Unfortunately they charge for internet use, and 9 Euros extra per person for breakfast. A good long (but beautiful)walk into Santander centre, or 5 Euros in a taxi! But all in all, a great hotel .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The beach opposite is great and a short walk along the cliffs brings you to some superb little bays for swimming.
You can walk into town along the sea front but it takes a good hour & if the weather is as hot it was with us you'll be quite thirsty when you get there. The option of public transport is good. Tapas bars etc in parts of town are terrific around the Plaza de Canadio, in particular La Conveniente, we found this through a 9yr old lonely planet guidebook and was exactly as they described it!
If you are driving the hotel parking is always full but parking is free on the promenade outside although finding a space may take a little time.
All the hotel rooms face the sea and have balconies which is great for breakfast! (Juice and croissants from local supermarket!)

the bed room was big no rails by bed or on wall to hold on to while transfering no call button by bed only phone. in bathroom rail by loo needs updating its looses and wobbles when lean on by tollet little space by tollet for helper/parner to assist you.
no walkin shower its a bath with a shower in it but no shower chair or hoist i didn't have a shower for 3 days while there, no tea/coffee powered milk or kettle in room the tv had limited channels on it. fiire alarm info behined door to high to read and nothing about helping their disabiled guests out when fire alarm goes off. bedroom door is heavey and difficult to open.

I have lived in Santander for a year so when I returned for holidays two years later, I knew where to go.

In its price range, I do think the Chiqui is the best choice in town if you come for the sea. Beautiful views over the beach from pretty much every room. It's a solid tourist hotel with everything you need, but nothing too fancy.

We had single rooms without balconies, but they were nice enough, modern interior, very clean, good beds, and the aforementioned stunning view. Unfortunately, no fridge, if I remember correctly. I didn't use the TV, so don't know about int'l channels.

Lovely staff, I think they do speak English (which isn't so obvious in this part of Spain, even in tourist hotels), but always dealt with them in Spanish.

Good quality buffet breakfast, even the English don't have to starve - cooked items available. The best was that it was served till 11.00 :-)

Location: As I mentioned, I think it's perfect, right on the beach, but at the end of the road, so rather quiet. There are a number of bars and good (tourist) restaurants in the area, but the real stuff goes on in the city center. You can easily get there by car (10 min), walking (35 min through the tunnel), bus (cheap, modern buses and regular service until midnight; there are nightbusses, but they are rather infrequent, so I would recommend a taxi for the way back), or taxi (€4-€6 in 2007).
