This is a superbly located hotel on Sardinero beach, only ten minutes from the ferry to Plymouth and Portsmouth. The reception staff were particularly helpful when we needed secure parking for our bike-laden car and did not charge us for the extra eight hours' parking after we had checked out. The room was small but clean and adequate, with sea views (although no balcony- we booked late). The restaurant was good, with typical dishes from the region. There was a self-serve buffet breakfast with a very large choice and no feeling of being rushed after service had closed.There was a busy outside cafe, popular with locals, and also a cocktail lounge. The hotel is situated at the end of the beach, in the lee of a promontory, upon which there is a clifftop footpath, giving panoramic views of the sea and surrounding coastline. This was a lovely place in which to spend our final day before catching the ferry. The bonus was that the ferry company informed the hotel that the ship was delayed, so we were prevented from unnecessary queuing and could enjoy a few more hours at the resort.
This is also an ideal place for families and beach lovers.

We had a phenomenal time at this hotel. Outstanding service, outstanding food, outstanding location, outstanding environment. We felt treated like family, and all the employees went out of their way to make sure everything was just right.
My 11-yo daughter adds "this was such a fantastic hotel! Can we go back next time?".
We will.
My only suggestion... a small shelf in the walk-in shower to put the soap, champoo, etc. I do not like to put them on the floor...

We stayed at the Hotel Chiqui in Santander at both the beginning and end of our tour of Spain as its conveniently placed for catching the ferry to Portsmouth.
The hotel is a short distance from the ferry port and easy to find - Its actually on the beach at El Sardinero (parking can be a bit tricky as its very popular but you can park in the garage for a fee).
The hotel has modern utiliatrian rooms,not huge and no aircon but very clean and all have a view of the bay. There is a cafeteria/bar, restaurant and seperate bar but most seemed to use the cafeteria/bar where you can sit inside or outside. Food is reasonably priced here.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and and the service good - sadly the weather wasn't so great but not the hotel's fault! If it does stay fine there is a nice prom to walk along and some pretty gardens.
Wi-fi internet access is available for about 6 euros for 24 hours access. BBC world service is availablel on the toom tv (for those of us non -Spanish speakers). All in all a good hotel to stay at if you want to be ear the ferry port.

Stayed here for 3 nights in June with a friend - Purpose was a few days at the beach - Perfect Hotel for this - Away from the City yet 15 mins max by Bus to City Centre. Staff were lovely, friendly & helpful. Good value €100 per room - Very modern rooms all with Balconies & great sea views. Within walking distance of a couple of Restaurants but we went into the City most nights. Very relaxing - Will definitely be back!
