We are a couple in our early 70's who like independent travel. and chose the NH Hotel for a weeks stay in Santa Cruz.
The NH Hotel is a small commercial hotel in a favoured part of Santa Cruz. It makes no allowances for 'holiday makers'. The front desk staff speak excellent English and are helpful, given the chance they like to chat.
The rooms are comfortable with somewhat quirky bathrooms. The hotel is quiet but surrounded by numerous bars and restaurants catering for 'locals' and anyone else. So plentiful 'watering' holes.
We use buses / trams to explore. The main bus station is a tram stop away from the hotel, a quick and easy journey. Buses can be confusing so some research on the TITSA site is advisable especially as local time tables were unavailable during our stay. A very useful map with bus routes and other information is the Tenerife Bus & Touring Map ISBN 9781904946793
All we can say is an enjoyable week with perfect Thompson flights 3 seat there and 3 back for the two of us.
