We had booked 5 nights at the Bellavista hotel. We booked through expedia and got a late deal of flights & hotel for about £450 for two.
I really should of checked Tripadvisor like I usually do, but we booked on such a whim that that I just went by the reviews on the Expedia website.
The hotel itself is in the beautiful town of Peurto la Cruz and is situated on a cliff. As a result the rooms have balconies with stunning sea views but would not be good for anyone with kids, or that suffers from Vertigo as the height is staggering!!
The hotel mainly caters to the elderly. We were the only young people in the hotel, the hotel reception was really surprised to see us there, and shot us a look of "are you sure?" upon check in. Everyone in the hotel was German & 60+, all the signs & posters are in German. It's really very difficult to speak to anyone or do anything if you are not German.
Another thing to mention is that there is a nudist area at the hotel.
We found the studio room to be cute & cosy and pretty clean. They had a well equipped kitchen and a nice bathroom. They have separate twin beds, so as a couple we had to rearrange the entire room to be able to sleep near one another.
The pool area doesn't look great, very concrete - we didn't use the pool.
After 3 nights we had quite enough of being there, in May there is very little open in Peurto La Cruz and the whole town was full of elderly people. We only saw one other couple our age and they too also looked bored out of their minds.
We weren't looking for a party town like Playas las americas but maybe some cocktail bars and a few nice restaurants to choose from. There wasn't anything like that in May, and if you did find somewhere it closed at 11pm!
After our third nights stay we packed up our bags & checked out the hotel losing the money we had paid for the last two nights. The man at reception did not seem surprised to see us go and didn't ask us why. In fact he didn't say anything.
We used the ancient computer & the slowest internet connection ever in the lobby to book a hotel in a small village down south.
The hotel is only 5 minutes drive to Loro Parque which is well worth a look. The stroll into town is quite long & you will need to tackle a load of steps, in town is also the lido, which unfortunately wasn't open when we were there, but we could see it from our balcony and it looked like fun.
We wouldn't return to the Bellavista Hotel, but i would certainly recommend it to a elderly German relative if i had any.
