“A Class Act”

Stayed at the San Borondon the first week in January and it was excellent. We arrived late as our flight had been delayed over 4 hours and we were really exhausted. We were welcomed by the security guard, a lovely man, checked in no problem and taken straight to our studio apt. It was huge with high ceilings, light and airy. Best of all spotless, the towels were changed every day and the bathroom and kitchen gleaming and we had a really big balcony getting the sun all day. All the people at the desk were so helpful with everything. I cant comment on the food as we did'nt eat there. Its in a great location just a short walk from the PLaza Charco and just around the corner from Playa Jardin. The pool is lovely. San Borondon made the holiday a great success for us. Thanks to all for a wonderful time.

“Cosy hotel with quiet pool area in the best part of Puerto”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

As I have previously lived permanently in Puerto de la Cruz, I can safely say that this hotel is one of the best location-wise. It is close to both the main beach Playa Jardin and the walking street leading into the city centre Plaza Charco. Rooms are clean and the beds are comfy enough.
Ask for a room facing the pool if you want sun on your balcony, we got one where the balcony faced a small garden with a 5 meter wall to block out the street sounds and got practically no sunshine in our room at all. (That was basically the only negative thing about this hotel).
We only had breakfast buffet, which consisted of a various bread buns, toast, 4 hot pieces such as eggs/tomatoes/sausages that changed every morning, 3 kinds of cereal, fresh veggies etc. Not an abundant buffet but certainly plenty enough choices!
I would not recommend half-board although we didn't have half-board (that is, I saw what they offered and could list 10 restaurants better worth the money!)
The pool area is quiet even though there is a main street not too far away, and offers both shade and sun throughout the day. Big plus that the walls around the hotel are high enough so it's not that windy by the pool.
Having lived in Puerto I'm used to cockroaches invading your apartment now and then and fully expected a war this time as well. However, NO COCKROACHES in this hotel!!!!
Really nice little garden surrounding the hotel!
All in all it's cosy, lots of old people, nice staff and a good location!

We had a juniorsuite. It was a big two-rooms apartement with a big balcony and view over the pool. a small cementary a fottballstadium and the sea. The aparment was nice and it had a fridge. The beach was abaout 10 minutes walk away. It was also near the busstation and not far from restaurants and shopping. There were no disturbing noise. We can recommend the hotel

“Upon entering I was filled with a sense of unadulterated joy”

We arrived the hotel in the small hours of a Monday night but that didn't prohibit us from instantly appreciating the spectactular entrance gates. We eventually found our way through to the back entrance and in no time at all we were excitedly running up the staircase to enjoy the wonderful view of the moon in all it's glory. Sharing this moment of unexpected beauty was one that will live long in the memory and I thank San Borondon and my lady for the magical experience.

“NO HOT WATER”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

We stayed in the hotel for a fortnight over Christmas and the new year and during the whole of that time we NEVER had any hot water. At it's best the water was tepid. I did complain to reception who seemed surprised and said it would be dealt with. It wasn't. Our friends joined us for a week and they had the same problem. The Hotel itself is very nice but I think they have made cutbacks which have resulted in poor service. There is a cockroach problem which isn't really the hotel's fault. They are everywhere and can easily get in to those rooms which are accessed from the garden as ours was. We just blocked off the gap under the door each night to stop them getting in. Had we not had a problem with the water I would have been prepared to overlook other minor shortcomings but all hotels, regardless of their star rating , should be able to provide hot water.
The hotel has a Gym but the equipment is either broken or in a poor state
