“Awful, awful, awful!!!!”

This was undoubtedly one of the worst experiences in a hotel I think I've ever had. Never before have I visited a so-called 4 star hotel which offers the same greasy, over-cooked, tastless and unexciting food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was a disgrace. Few of the dished were labelled either, as a Coeliac, this made things extremely difficult, even when I asked the staff the only thing they were sure was ok was the salad bar. And when I say salad bar, I mean literally lettuce, tomatoes and pickled onion (no idea?!) The staff were friendly enough, though when we informed the receptionist we were leaving three days early she didnt ask why. If you're going self catering it may be tolerable - we found some nice restaurants in the main town. But the facilities at the hotel are terrible - tiny pool, old fashioned furnishings, awful "entertainment", infact very little, if anything, to do. Please do not go here expecting decent (let alone 4 star) service, food and facilites. I would hate anyone else to spend their hard earned cash on such a disapointing hotel, especially when there are so many others to choose from.

“Could be a very good hotel, needs updating, food edible but certainly not four star”

Hotel entertainment geared very much for older generation, room very nice, spacious good balcony lovely views, food quality poor, choice not huge, most staff friendly and helpful, but restaurant staff not great, couple of pleasant ones. Needs refit, very late seventies/early eighties decor, pools cold in February, could do with being heated a little, kids were blue !
Puerto lovely area, bit tacky in parts, but overall still great destination, can eat out very cheaply in good quality restaurants in heart of town.
Lots going on , Loro Parque very expensive but very good day out.
Weather gorgeous, too many elderly people going bra-less and shirtless, not a good view when eating meal !!!

Taxis cheap , buses good, went to Santa Cruz, good afternoon out.
Looking to go back next year NOT to this hotel (was last minute change from Djerba) would go self catering instead.

“Highly recommended for an enjoyable holiday.”

We spent four weeks at the Diamante Suites. We booked our holiday with Mercury Direct taking advantage of their 3rd week free offer on B&B and fourth week at a reduced rate. It was excellent value. We requested a room on a high floor facing Mt Teide and overlooking a banana plantation, we were allocated room 712 although there was a road below, noise was minimal. This was also the sunny side of the hotel.
Our room was spacious and consisted of a large bedroom en suite, sitting room, balcony and entrance hall, there was plenty of cupboard space. A toaster, microwave, coffee machine and fridge was provided, but take a jug kettle if you want to make yourselves tea and coffee.
The hotel is situated on a steep hill with graduated levels and can be confusing We found our way about by starting on the top floor and working our way down. The swimming pool and jacuzzi is on 4th level, childrens pool on 3, dining-room on 6 and reception 7. Sunbeds and umbrellas are plentiful, you can obtain beach towels from reception for a small charge which is refundable. There is a safe in the room, get key from reception which is a bit expensive (15 euros per week).
There was a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Management and staff are courteous and helpful. Food is buffet style, with a good selection. Tables in the restaurant are not allocated, you have to find a table. Tablecloths are changed after each guest sitting. Dress code for the evening was casual, but gentlemen were requested not to wear shorts or sleeveless T shirts to the evening meal.
The hotel runs a courtesy bus which takes you into the main shopping area, this leaves on the hour from 10.00 and returns on the half hour until 16.30. As stated the hotel is on a very steep hill and you need to be fit to tackle it, taxi fare from the town is approximately 4 euros.
We enjoyed our holiday and would definitely consider returning to the Diamante sometime in the near future.

“Much better than expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2010

We spent 3 weeks at the Hotel Diamante Suites in November 2010.
We booked through Mercury Direct and thought that we had good value for money.
Taking TripAdvisor members advice we requested and were given a high floor room facing Mount Teide. (Room 802) The rooms on this side face South. If your room is high enough you get pleasant views above the road and towards the hills
The staff in the Dinning Room are very busy and many speak only a little English but they did try to be helpful at all times. The food is buffet style and there was always a reasonable choice. Perhaps because of the rapid turn over of guests it did have a slight cafeteria feel about it.
The other holiday makers were mainly Spanish or German a few Scandinavians and very few English. Dress in the Dinning Room seemed very casual.
We were pleased with our accomodation which was spacious, well lit and comfortable. We had a fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee maker but for some reason no kettle. The balcony was small but was fine for 2 people.
The swimming pool area was reasonable with a small pool and plenty of sunbeds.
The hotel is built in 6 graduated stages down a steepish hill. No part is higher than 5 stories high. It is worth spending time finding your way arround the different levels.
Reception is Level 7. Dinning Level 6. Pool Level 3. Walk way Level 3. (This leads from the back of the hotel via zig-zag flower decked paths & steps to the Turquesa Playa and the road into the bus stops and town) Level 1 Exits on to the road and the easiest walk to the beach.
As can be seen from my descriptions you need to be fit enough for a bit of uphill walking to enjoy this hotel unless you are prepared to use Taxis or the complimentary shuttle bus which goes down to the Tuquesa Playa and then on to a small shopping centre at the far end of the town.
The things we liked most about this hotel were the everchanging views over Mount Teide
and the feeling of space around the hotel. Another big plus was the wonderful Cafeteria Bahia Chiripa situated opposite the Hotel Turquesa. An excellent place to stop for a coffee or snack and to rest before we made our way uphill back to the Hotel Diamante Suites.
