“Great experience”

Stayed a week in january 2012 and was very pleased with the accomodation and the very friendly staff. The food was excelent every day with a lot of nice dishes to choose from. To my great pleasure they served 2 or 3 different fishdishes every day. All in all I am very pleased. However a 4 star hotel should not charge extra for WiFi Internet or safety box in the room.

“NOT WHAT THE AD SAYS”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

This hotel is badly in need of refurbishment. The rooms are tired, and the baths in most of the rooms have rust on the bottom which is not pleasant to sit on.

The food whilst adequate, lacks imagination and if you are going for more than two weeks I would strongly suggest that you do at least a week on B&B in order to use the local restaurants, which are excellent, to give you some variety in your diet.

Most of the staff are friendly with only a couple of exeptions. The hotel is at the top of a very steep hill and not near the centre of the town, they do provide a curtesy bus from 9 till 1 and 4 till 7 once an hour, but at busy times it is difficult to get on it.

The beds are so hard you might as well sleep on the floor.

Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely not, there are much better hotels on the sea front and they are no more expensive.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel

“Our recent experience.”

This hotel could be very good, but it is tired and badly in need of refurbishment. The first room we were given had rust spots all over the bottom of the bath, which on our arrival had been covered over with little squares of mastik. After two days the mastik gradually came off , so we reported it to reception and they sent the maintenance man who put more little squares of mastik over them. Two days later they were off again, so back to reception and they sent a cleaning lady up to deal with it. She said there was nothing she could do so we went back to reception, and after making a big fuss we were offered the key to a different room to see if this would suit us better. This room was dark dingy and guess what!!!! it had rust in the bottom of the bath. We were eventually offered another room, which we were told was the "Managers Suite" this was a very large room and the bath had no rust and we were happy to accept it. During our stay we saw the maintainance man coming out of so many rooms carrying his little tube of mastik, and on speaking to other guests discovered that most of the rooms in this hotel had rusty baths.

They are also very lax in their accounting, we booked to have dinner in their "Themed" restaurant the Mirador and on booking we paid the 12 euro cover charge. On arriving at the restaurant we were greeted by the manager who on checking his list said that we had already paid and he showed us to our table. On leaving the restaurant we were presented with a bill for the 12 euros cover charge and when we said that we had already paid this he said "no you have not" He denied that he had said that we had paid when we arrived, and because the hotel owner was present in the restaurant that night he rushed us out of the restaurant and up to reception where he still insisted that we had not paid. The reception manager also started saying that we had not paid and when my husband got very angry and said that he considered that they were calling him a liar, they still insisted that we had not paid and started to question where we had paid, when we had paid and at what time we had paid. Only after about 20 minutes of arguing did the reception manager finally go and check on the computer, where he found the payment on our room account, his response was "so o.k. you were right, it is o.k." We said it was not o.k. and that he should apologise. He flatly refused to apologise, and to this day still has not done so. The restaurant manager did apologise and did his best to make ammends. We also spoke to other guest who had had problems with their accounts and had found charges on them for purchases that they had not made.

The food is well presented and nicely cooked, but very repetative. We were glad that of the three weeks we had only booked two weeks half board, this enabled us to go out to restaurants in the third week to have some variety in our meals. We did however enquire as to the cost of upgrading and we were told it would be 15 euros each per day. As it only costs 12 euros to walk into the restaurant and have a meal we think that this is a rip off. So if you want to go half board or all inclusive at this hotel, book it at the time of your U.K. booking because it is much cheaper.

The hotel is quite a distance from the centre of things and at the top of a steep hill, they do have a curtesy mini bus but make sure you go out to get it 15 minutes before it is due to leave or you may find that it is full and it only runs once an hour and not at all between 2 and 4.

The entertainment in this hotel is not good, not a lot going on during the day. keyboard player 3 nights a week and spanish trio 2 nights. One night of bingo and nothing at all on Sunday.

Pool area is o.k. but the pool bar is bad. All of the equipment was broken whilst we were there so the only snack you could get was a sandwich. They don't have ice cream "because it is winter" even though it was 28 degrees!!!

The beds are horrible, like sleeping on the floor.

Hope this helps.

“not what we expected”

recently came back from the diamante suites and was very dissapointed, lovely hotel, the younger staff are very welcoming but the older staff are miserable. At breakfast there is freshly cooked bacon, omlettes ,and pancakes, funny looking sausages, beans, tomatoes, scrambled eggs which were all nice, only one toaster which fits five small slices of bread on so you can imagine the que.Dinner was ok something for everyone fresh cookd pork joint ,beef, chicken, soup, potatoes and veg not much choice of desserts but they were still nice, same at tea time always something different.stayed by the pool during the day not many people about so we could relax anywhere there were eight of us,pool is nice, miserable man serving drinks and snacks though.
We tried a walk to the beach but only once the hill is a killer, went into puerto de la cruz town a few times its a nice place.Booked to go to siam park, brilliant day out also went to lorro park that was worth every penny and its only round the corner from the hotel.Iwould not recommend this area of tenerife as is was cloudy every bit of the day yet at night the sky was clear very odd, also the all inclusive finishes at midday on day of departure so be aware drinks and food are quite expensive in this hotel. At the end of the day we had a good relaxing cloudy holiday but would still not recommend this area.

Room Tip: 6th floor looking onto the mountains, nice and quiet.
