stayed for three weeks from jan 2nd to 23rd 2009.first four nights in room 304 at the front ,lots of street noise until 4.30am and then the locals go to work at 5.30am over using their car-horns.moved to room 409 at the back,very quiet with no view whatsoever and very dull and cold,temep outside was mid 70s in the room it was high 50s.no sun at all on that side.the breakfast is fine for all tastes but the hotel rooms do need a desperate update.on two occasions the beds weren't made when the cleaner had been I reported this at reception and I was told I had been mistaken.tried for a transfer to another hotel ,all we were offered by the agent of our tour operator "mercury direct" was an hotel out in the sticks,which we refused as we did not have a car.I approached the manager about the state of the bedcovers my actual words were"the hotel was updated in 2003 have the bedcovers been changed since as they are in a disgusting state i.e.full of various stains"he replied "he did not understand me"the beds were totally stripped and remade with all fresh bedding on our return.we wont be returning.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April 2008. The hotel is only a few blocks from the gua gua (bus) station so very easy to get to if you fly into the airport in the north. Hotel staff were very nice and very helpful. I booked a single room with breakfast included for $50 euro a night and it was perfect. I ended up getting a double bed with a window that faced the main street. The balcony area was very nice, had 2 chairs and small table. The breakfast was typical for the area, nothing special. There are plenty of good restaurants close to the hotel, good shopping and of course the beach. Will definitely be returning to this hotel on my next visit.

We stayed at the Gema Puerto four days in February. The best thing about this hotel is the great location close to the main plaza in Puerto de la Cruz. Rooms basic and clean.

Friendly and helpful staff. We had to change room during stay because of humidity. Staff changed our room straight away without any problems.

Reception area with complimentary internet.

If you can choose do not book half or full board. Save the money and use them on many of the great restaurants and bars in the town.

Puerto de la Cruz highly recommended. Gema puerto is a good base if you do not plan to stay in your room during your stay.

Stayed in Gema Puerto Jan 2007 for 17 days.
Ideally situated just off the main Square. Within a nice walking distance to the Lido and the also the Beach, not forgetting the shops.
Room was basic but very clean and was cleaned on a daily basis. This room had no balcony,but a cooling fan was in the room if it got too hot you could turn it on. The room had also a very handy little fridge which was great for keeping drinks cool. Food was excellent buffet style. Staff were excellent,very helpful and extremely pleasant.
It was so good i returned in March 2007 for 10 days, this time i booked a room with a balcony. I enjoyed my stay the second time equally as much as the first.
I would certainly return to the Gemma Puerto.
